very swollen, very painful and struggling to walk.
Spoke to the GP who asked if anything stressful may have triggered it. I said YES!! Nigel Farage was allowed to hijack Ipswich Town FC for a PR c... sorry stunt, the club chairman then lied about it and eventually issues a really meaningless apology
The GP sympathised and has given a prescription for strong anti-inflammatories

I’d always somewhat mistakenly believed that gout was brought on by too much good living, port, pate, red meat….
Hope you feel better soon.
Ashton Gout!
That’s what I thought!
I think Keno has been swilling down too much Dows finest, a cow or two and slabs of Fortnums Pate. The old guzzler is just trying to fob off his George 4th over indulgence on Ashton.
I hope you feel better soon, you old soak. Seriously, I gather gout is mighty painful.

Apparently there are two types of gout known as “rich man’s “ and “poor man’s “ I wonder which type you have?
Poor man's must be what used to be called pseudogout which I've had in my left knee. Nasty little calcium crystals that get themselves into places they have no business being (a bit like politicians at a football club). I went from a minor niggle to unable to put my foot on the floor in about 15 mins. Excruciating pain.
As someone said, Naproxen is wonderful stuff!
It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.
If you like cherries, eat them! If you don't like cherries, eat them. Drink cherry juice! When ever I have gout - that's what I do, painkillers never touched it but cherries......

got to be made from the right cherries though. Cherries are delicious but you need the sour type. If they're too sour for you, try the Holland & Barrett Montmorency Cherry capsules. Worked for me

I know, I do like the Frobisher one and do find it helps
When this settles the GP wants to do some blood tests too check various things and if possible get me onto allopurinol. One issue there is I am hyperglycemic so have to be careful not to do anything that potentially lowers blood sugar

Cherries and cherry juice is good, also try taking a mug of good (ie local raw) honey with cider apple vinegar, Aspall's is good, just dissolve in hot water, like making tea. It's what I take whenever I get a twinge in the big toe joints. Painkillers have no effect gout pain, in my experience.
