Starmer odds on with bookies 21:04 - Apr 1 with 1174 viewsonceablue

To be gone in 2026.

When will it be after May Elections or will he last longer?

Bookies rarely get it wrong just a matter of time for him.

Have we got any betting specialists who can advise?

Presumably he’ll stay until the Iran war is resolved at least, as he’s doing a good job on that. He’s got loads wrong, but he’s still better than Badenoch and Farage (albeit that’s a very low bar lol). I suppose the relevant question is whether he’s any better than any challengers in Labour.

If they want him gone someone needs to make a play with a good alternative vision for the Labour Party and country. I’ve not seen anyone do that yet. And if not, there’s no benefit to the rest of us in forcing him out. They’ve got 3 years to save their reputation. If nobody can do that, they deserve to go the way of the Tories.

Isn't it time you drew a line under this and moved on?

I’m totally immersed in the upcoming Peruvian elections and their accompanying betting markets but I of course keep an eye on the old country constantly.
He does seem a stubborn old mule and I know the May election’s have been flagged up since at least last autumn as the end of his reign…but I don’t know .. it’s much more difficult to change a labour leader than a Tory one which is what we’ve gotten used to over the last few decades especially when that leader is the actual prime minister … betting markets suggest he’ll still be there regardless of the May result’s.

Which, if that and oncer's odds are both true tells you one thing ... the bookies always win!

I would say Andy Burham

Obviously Keir thinks that as well hence the reason he was blocked from running in the by election

I can assure you Stammers’s unpopularity is very similar or more so then Mr Farage

Unlike Moscow Nige though, he's quite keen to stand up to the Orange Nonce and has seen his popularity rise.

Incredible to think that with the influx of all the Putin bots this last week or so, the OP STILL stands out as one of the more obvious and tragic frauds.

So if anyone is remotely interested, here is the view of someone who has never and will never vote Labour. I have, however, paid to see a lecture from Tony Benn who I regard as one of the greatest politicians in my lifetime thus I hope you can appreciate that I am magnanimous enough to acknowledge when politicians of any shade do something that doesn't seem half bad.

Of the current lot:

Starmer. Has handled Trump well, loved how he gave Don the letter inviting him to the state visit. Has rightly stuck up for the fact that we really don't need to get involved in Iran. Should've allowed use of UK bases immediately Trump asked for it though, as would've kept Don on side a bit more. Domestically hopeless.

Rayner: awful never warmed to her. Keep her well clear of the cabinet

Burnham: decent man, and seems to be managing Manchester well. Possible PM material if on occasions he would just shut up and listen. Terrible habit of talking over people.

Streeting: proper lefty but doesn't make him a bad person (see Tony Benn comment). Would be the strongest and smartest PM of the lot, but Health Sec is one of those jobs that needs a long term occupant to try and fix the NHS, so regrettably probably needs to stay there

It is difficult to see him being replaced because there doesn't seem to be a decent replacement.

In any event, the Iran war will no doubt be followed for some time by some bad economic impacts and it would seem foolish to change leader in such circumstances.
