Yep agreed, if we get into PL then I'd imagine 3-4k if we stay in Championship i'd imagine it will be under a thousand.
I've been at games this season where the whole block behind me has been empty, with the resale site you'd expect non ST scooping up those, but even then they haven't. |
If we fail to get promoted this season I wouldn't expect there to be any waiting list, given the amount of people who have bemoaned how bad this season has been. |  | | |

Also to be fair, we're one of the few clubs that offer a 12 months interest-free direct debit option.
For me that's a massive benefit and probably allows the club to get away with a 14% increase. My ST has gone up from £45.91 to £52.33 per month, the cost of a pint. That's the way I look at it anyway. |

As you say its probably less about the % increase and more the absolute price. We've been cheaper for a while, even Norwich charge a lot more for equivalent seats and on last weeks evidence they can barely muster a shot on target.
At £20 per Championship game and £25 for Premier League they're not unreasonable.
We're pretty much in line with Southampton which I consider a reasonable benchmark given club, fanbase etc. |  | | |

I can see the following happening:
Any new ST sold to the waiting 6000 will not be priced in alignment with these renewal prices, IMO they will be charged at 45-50 GBP per month [based on 12m DD]
Aim overall will be to get everyone up that level eventually over 2-3 years.
My biggest worry is the price of the individual matchday ticket, starting at 34 GBP per match currently, where will that go? 40? We will see... |  | | |

It strikes me that it's possibly a worrying sign of things to come as well.
The club have decided to throw out a 14% increase for what could still be another season of Championship football. I dread to think what they'd consider to be justified following a decent PL season.

I know some clubs charge a £10 fee so you can get a physical card still. |
I am sure we paid for a card last year.
I just like having a card and hate standing behind people in the queue trying to find it on their phones.

Last season the club received an average of just over £18 per seat. For the current season it will be higher, but still around £20 at a guess. The demographics (age and concessions) this suggests surprised me, but can only mean that a small minority will be paying these headline seat prices being quoted. | | | |

I've said many a time, people won't give up their season tickets, despite how much it goes up (within reason obviously. a 100% increase might be different for example), while there is demand for tickets from non-ST holders and there is the resale platform.
This now allows people who can't get to every game to just sell those tickets. As long as demand is high (which it will be definitely if we go up), then i'd assume barely any STs will be not renewed.
So the waiting list for ST holders is pretty redundant at the moment bare maybe a few 100 people.
So as much as people will moan about the increase, they'll still renew. Ticket prices, esepcially for PL clubs, don't need to be increased. The increase is not a lot of money for those clubs compared to all the other dosh they get. | | | |

I'll renew as I always do but it doesn't mean it's right.
We were there during the darkest period. I kept up my season ticket payments during COVID to try to help the club. Watched the ifollow nightmare.
We turned up to watch it all and support when being a Town fan was ridiculed by some.
They shouldn't exploit that loyalty, especially when the club is now in good financial health.
There is no fan experience. There's a football match and that's how we want it. Just because American sports executives can't believe the price of sport or music tickets in Europe, doesn't mean they should be allowed to impose their model on us. |  | | |

I'd assume that's part of the thinking behind it also. No more lending your ticket to a friend if you can't make it, you have to put it up for resale. |

A lot of people underestimate the importance of matchday revenue. Of course, this is looking at the very biggest clubs, but it's a fallacy to say matchday revenues are insignificant.
That is the reality of the sport today, and the model owners/investors are looking at.
17-24% of revenue from match day sales for most of the PL clubs listed...

The match day price is part of why I suspect there is around 6K, or will be if promoted, on the waiting list. They're not people who don't attend now, but those who go but have to pay a significantly higher price than season ticket holders and even then don't get a guaranteed ticket. There haven't been many matches this season with less than 27K - 21K season ticket holders + 6K more. | | | |
