Farewell 09:08 - Apr 26 with 4821 viewswoodbridge_blue

After coming close several times during the course of this season, this weekend has been the final straw for me.

I just cannot comprehend how much criticism and negative comments this team has received. After the disappointment of relegation last season we have put ourselves into a wonderful position where instant promotion is one win away.

I accept that the football hasn't always been scintillating but for God's sake, what do people want from a season. Some of you lot don't know how lucky you are....you could have been around during the Duncan years, the dreadful 1994/95 season, three failed playoffs under Burley, then the morass of the Evans years followed by the humiliation of three miserable seasons in the third division without coming close to promotion.

You have a side that is far from perfect, but is about to be promoted to the promised land for the second time in three seasons.

Just what do you want?

I'm done. Enjoy your negativity, pointless criticism and petty backbiting....I'm just going to enjoy supporting my team. Follow the Town, up or down.

Agree with every word now after the edit.

Would be a quiet message board if everyone blubbed off because others didn’t agree with them

We played some great football in 99/00

That play-off team, with Magic, Bam-Bam, Reuser, Wilnis, Mogga et al was something special. Ditto their first season back in the Prem

The sides far from perfect, but no-one is allowed to say anything negative?

The football hasn't been scintillating but no-one is allowed to say so?

Because we've been cr@p in the past, we can't critisice a team who ultimately are probably slightly underperforming, despite likely to gain promotion?

I think the overly positive posts/comments outweight the overly negative. Some people are balanced too, a bit of both.

Sadly like with most things the bad years are soon forgotten. If anyone asked me about Town I'd probably hark back to the days of the FA cup win and the winning of the UEFA Cup and our near miss of winning the league in 1980-81 season.
Speaking to Sir Bobby about the then new Cobbold stand on the day it opened and going with my dad to Stamford Bridge and Maine Road in the Cup.
Whinging is just part of life whether it's the weather, your job, your financial position or any sport or about friends or neighbours and even family.
The double season was just amazing and not expected and that is why those players will always have a special place in our hearts, This team were widely expected to cruise this division, that not happening has to a certain extent dampened the enthusiasm of some fans.
Should it have ? possibly no as promotion is promotion however you dress it up.

I too get frustrated with a handful here (even more in the news comments) who are consistently negative and critical.

But it is just a minority. Just a noisy one when results don't go our way.

Not enough to explain flouncing away like this!

I know how you feel, but going away probably isn't the answer.

I don't think there's many on here that doubt that our recent success and the money we've spent has led to some becoming a bit entitled. We don't know who these people are - they could be 15yr old know-alls or 55 yr old's who should know better. But it looks to me like every club has them - and social media and forums like this just give them a platform to spout their ignorance. Years ago it was just pub or watercooler discussion - today it's on here with 100's of us.

Hang in there buddy!

Poll: Right now, who would you rather have as Prime Minister?

Straw men all over the place here.

No-one has said no-one is allowed to say anything negative.
No-one has said no-one is allowed to say the football hasn't been scintillating.
No-one has said you can't criticise the team.

It's the rabid (and repeated) negativity by certain popsters that gets people's backs up. The sort who are always here when we lose but disappear otherwise, and say OTT stuff like McKenna doesn't know what he's doing, play offs at best etc.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.
