with a Reform rosette on.

A couple stood next to him asking him where the Labour candidate was. And followed that by saying they'd voted Reform to ensure Labour don't get in.

Feck me, we are doomed.

I've just visited a good mate, who's had a stroke. Before the stroke, he was a senior engineer and manager at a Uni, working in combo with high tech industry. Today he asked me if I'd voted and whether I'd voted for the only correct party - on asking, this turned out to be Reform. Turns out he joined them 6 months ago (pre-stroke in case any wits are wondering).

When a guy so able and lovely would vote for Reform, we really are fcked.

Edit: he's 52, for info, so not a boomer

Ouch. Politics aside, hope he's OK after the stroke.

They'll be calling for a General Election tomorrow once the local election results are out. Despite there is not a cat in hells chance of Labour ceding power until 2029.

They have played the "Vote Reform, Get Starmer Out" message throughout their campaign and you can see some of their more 'challenged' supporters appear to think Farage will be PM by the end of the year.

And to directly answer your question, they have no "how" and Farage and Tice just strop off if they are challenged by journalists on this.

The laughable/sad thing about all of this, is that Farage portrays this 'Man of the people' persona, but he's a self serving grifter out for his own benefit, he couldn't give two sh1ts about the man on the street or communities, but people keep buying what he's selling.

But this is a more an indictment on Labour and Conservative as they are both like rabbits in headlights and both parties just can't shift sleaze, which is why people are looking for something else.

But to think Farage is the answer is lunacy, he'd sell his own grandmother for a pound note.

We'll fight our local battles and win most of those locally, and in any normal world we'd be challenging to be the opposition at the next GE given our 72 MPs from last time round and the car crash that is the Tory party.

We live in a world where being decent human beings and having sensible policies don't matter though.

It took a little while to recover from the coalition betrayal/student fees debacle, but looks like they’re finally there again based on the last GE. They normally do well in the wards on the west of Swansea with it being where a lot of the university workers live.

They could be significant in the next GE as it looks like we could be heading for hung parliament territory, with any of three or four who could be big players. Still a long way to go though innit.

Mate of mine is a Labour councillor. Old fashioned municipal Labour. More interested in communities, parks, libraries, drains and buses rather than flags, boats, culture wars etc. A thoroughly decent public servant. Looks like he'll lose out to Reform for national reasons way out of his control.

I expect that scenario will play out all over the country. Good people, who are not particularly partisan but have the interests of the local community at heart will be replaced by knuckle dragging racists with no interest in such matters.

"What would Labour or the conservatives offer that will be good for the country?"

Not an unfair question. I think it is safe to say that, at the moment, no one single party stands out.

It's not really an answer to the question though. I would, genuinely, like to know what Reform offer.

From what I can see:

1. Stop the boats
2. Secure and defend our borders
3. Deport illegal immigrants
4. Scrap ILR to Avert the Boriswave
5. Restore Britain's Sovereignty

That's taken from their website. What I can't see is 'how' this will make a material difference to the UK and our current situation. To me, that just feels like scaremongering and playing to the gallery (at best).

Do they actually state scrapping Independent Local Radio on their website along with the "Boriswave"? Or is that a summary?

How will a local councillor impact or enact any of those things too?

Some Reform supporters are going to be very disappointed when they realise voting for them has made no difference on these issues. Although I am sure they will then blame the Government for stopping the local councils from doing something way outside their remit.
