| Streeting has quit on 13:11 - May 14 with 1524 views | Swansea_Blue | It’s back to lack of vision again. “Where we need vision we have a vacuum”. That’s why they’re delivering against policies that cancel each other out and why nobody’s happy. The lefties think they’re righties and the righties think they’re lefties, and they’re both right. Starmer’s Labour is the pick ‘n’ mix party of politics. Despite giving everyone a little bit of what they want they also give everyone a reason to not identify with them. Imo anyway, fwiw. | |

That seems pretty spot on to me. Add in the horrible fiscal situation and its a perfect storm of dissatisfaction . Separately, one thing I'd love to hear peoples' thoughts on is exactly what Streeting is so unpopular? The question isn't an implied defense of him - just wondering....

For me, he's a weaselly careerist who's obsessed with the Efficient Private Sector and utterly unwilling to engage with professionals' concerns over pay, conditions, recruitment, retention and safety. And that whole Mandelson thing, as well. [Post edited 14 May 13:24]

LabourList have just published Labour members' voting intentions, and he's not that popular. Starmer 53% Vs Streeting 23% Burnham 61% Vs Starmer 28% Miliband 46% Vs Starmer 39% Rayner 45% Vs Starmer 41% So you can bet that Streeting and Right-sided Labour will do all they can to sweep him in as leader before Burnham get's a By-Election seat sorted and can stand himself, and in doing so will likely destroy Labour for good I suspect.

His repeated desire to privatise the NHS piece by piece, his glee at working with evil Palantir, and his attitudes to trans' rights and medical support for those transitioning.

Because people think he is a Blairite and he is a reformer - so any change is seen as bad as everything is currently working so brilliantly [Post edited 14 May 13:30]

It's policy for me. He's on the right of the party, and even as NUS president he supported tuition fees. I suppose there is also the fact that, for me, he brings to mind the phrase. "If he were a Mars Bar, he'd eat himself."

he has always defended the rights of trans people, just the same as other groups, as defined by equalities legislation and laws against harassment and discrimination. you really would expect a health secretary to oppose un-evidenced experiments on children.

It's his wing of the party that is in control of the party, so the blame for the current mess lies with McSweeney, him and all the other Labour Together Cabinet ministers, Starmer being an innocent bystander in all this. [Post edited 14 May 14:22]

I dislike politicians who take money from donors that work in their area. Conflict of interest at best, corruption as worst. Either way, anyone with an ounce of integrity would simply say "no thanks". https://goodlawproject.org/hea

He lacks any gravitas. Just a deeply unimpressive individual frankly.

This. Plus a Tory wearing a red rosette is still a Tory, imo.

"Streeting has always defended the rights of trans people" Streeting has met several times with and sought the advice of the Bayswater Support Group. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ I'm afraid I can't quite reconcile those two things......
