| Southampton Club Statement on 14:41 - May 20 by ElderGrizzly | Each game where they admitted spying on, should see a 3:0 result to the opposition. So they lose the points gained in the league and then the 3:0 reverse for the Boro Playoff leg. Boro win. End of. |
I see your logic and to an extent I agree However , if you did that , Oxford would survive and Blackburn would get relegated (I think) You’d then be into a different legal battle

Oxford already won the game in question so wouldn't gain anything other than a slightly better goal difference.

| Southampton Club Statement on 15:01 - May 20 by Marshalls_Mullet | Not to mention when approached at Boro he refused to say who he was, ran away, changed his clothes in the WC and then scarpered via a back exit.... |
… for two nights, and the plan was he was returning the following day for a second day of spying/filming before he was rumbled. So it was going to be two days of intelligence gathering. Given his disguise at Eastleigh and his attempt to scarper the argument that the manager didn’t know it was against the rules is a little thin?! Take your medicine Saints

Yeah I might have been wrong , I’m sure some said they did a AI thing where they changed all of the results based on spying between December and April and someone else was relegated . My personal opinion (which might be slightly controversial) is that I wouldn’t have allowed Boro back into the final and I would have given hull a free pass. Not that I particularly like hull, it’s just that they’re an innocent party in this

| Southampton Club Statement on 15:14 - May 20 by Bent_double | One thing's for sure, if Ipswich had been caught and found guilty of doing this, as a supporter I would expect to be expelled from the competition, and would want the club to accept the punishment and move on. I wouldn't even want to contemplate the idea that my club could/should still be able to get promotion to the richest league in the world off the back of cheating. Soton fans should just keep quiet and accept their clubs punishment. |
Looking on Saintsweb, that is the attitude of many of them. Anger more at their club even than the EFL or Boro. Several saying they wouldn't be happy attending even if reinstated.

Apparently the golf club where he was operating is owned by Gibson, so Boro were able to get all the CCTV, card transactions, etc.

Yeah, the hotel is part of the golf club. All owned by Gibbo.

If this is going to become a free-for-all, I hope the might canaries can conjure up a grievance somehow.

Will Salt went to Colney, used a Nokia 5110 and thought this is a waste of time, and headed off for a Jarrolds Breakfast.

There are many, many Boro fans agreeing that Hull should just be promoted, because, lets face it, Boro absolutely battered Saints in the first leg and were woefully wasteful in their finishing. What this says to me is that the vast majority of English fans hate cheating more than they want their team to gain from it. I think that is a welcome insight into our society, when so much is going wrong. We should never lose our moral compass! [Post edited 20 May 16:23]

Release a statement saying you are concerned that the Southampton results will be struck from the record as you have already given out the medals to your squad

Its only closed based on the 3 spying instances that are currently known about. If more cheating comes to light, then more charges can be made.
