How can potential earnings be considered a fine if your rule breaking eliminates you from the competition. Currently they have not been fined a cent i believe 🤷

I knew the 'ÂŁ200m' would be front and centre.

That of course is not guaranteed, as they would still have Hull to play.

If they win their appeal, the EFL will immediately get a letter from Steve Gibsons lawyers with the same 'ÂŁ200m' front and centre.

It doesnt really stand up.

Sounds like it was a calculated risk taken to send the spies.. "What's the worst they're going to do? They'll just fine us like they did Leeds"

" Ok we agree, therefore we will retract the explusion, however due to you admitting guilt on spying on middlesborough prior to the first leg, we have no choice but to forfeit the result in middlesboroughs favour resulting in a 3-0 win for them. With the second leg only being a 1-0 victory by southampton, it means middlesbrough will move onto the final after a 3-1 aggregate victory.

Becasue you admitted spying on other clubs, we feel the 4 poin deduction next season will now be 10 points for pssing us off

What has happened in the past is irrelevant surely. This is the first time this newly written rule has been broken so this is the first chance to set the precedent. Unfortunately for them, they will feel the consequences of it. But I guarantee no club will ever do this again going forwards as the punishment has been strong.

Agree. Wasn't the new rule brought in because of Leeds and it appearing too lenient?

You can’t lose something you never had. So the 200m loss argument doesn’t wash

What they can say is that they have been denied the opportunity- but that’s the point. Shouldn’t have done it

They’re going to have to get a better Legal argument than “whatabboutery” which is what they’ve said here

Also none of those instances directly impacted the play-offs - the punishment is harsher because the weight of the crime is greater.

The Harwood-Bellis binoculars celebration.

The fans doing the binoculars celebration.

The fans taking binoculars to the game.

The fans posting spying memes.

Each game where they admitted spying on, should see a 3:0 result to the opposition.

So they lose the points gained in the league and then the 3:0 reverse for the Boro Playoff leg.

Boro win. End of.

The comparison where 'Leeds did it and only got fined ÂŁ200k' is so dumb. It wasn't a rule when Leeds did it so it's not the same at all.

I say again.... as of yet i havent seen any single mention of a fine!... its a disqualification and sporting sanction for as a punishment!

Is it only me that thinks that bit also makes zero sense, just chucked in because it's a big number. What have Everton's losses in a season got to do with anything else?
