Agreed.

If Southampton somehow get reinstated, Hull need to print this and pin it to their dressing room wall on Saturday. The sense of entitlement is unreal. Should be all the motivation they need. Up the Tigers!

"...a figure dwarfed by what has been taken from Southampton in a single afternoon."

Blub a dub dub.

I must have missed the bit in the EFL statement about issuing a record fine as well as the sporting sanctions they imposed.

Is it only me that thinks that bit also makes zero sense, just chucked in because it's a big number. What have Everton's losses in a season got to do with anything else?

Their whole case is basically..... "yeah, but.... money?!"

"What we cannot accept is a sanction which bears no proportion to the offence. "

Ridiculous. Another epic fail, this time by their PR dept.

You cheated, so you get disqualified.

....seems perfectly sensible and proportionate to me.

If their analyst wore Eastleigh gear to blend in then clearly they knew it was wrong. So the original excuse of not knowing it was a rule was a lie.

Hope they do, if their appeal is based only on what's in this statement - ie is completely spurious.

Basically finding punishments in sport less than £200m in value.

Ignoring the facts the rules brought in after Leeds spying included expulsion from competition as an option.

Don't spy, don't get expelled.

And ignoring the point that not knowing the rule/law is not a defence.

Not to mention when approached at Boro he refused to say who he was, ran away, changed his clothes in the WC and then scarpered via a back exit....

Think they need to be looking at their manager when it comes to pointing the finger for the damage done to their club.

A fine (no matter how large) could never make right the wrong done to Middlesborough.

Can't see how anything other than expulsion is an appropriate punishment tbh.

Strange that they'd be so thorough as to want every minute detail of opponents before a game via spying, yet so lackadaisical that they'd not bother to spend a couple of minutes checking on the rules/regs in place re spying ...

I know their statement doesn't say the board knew what was happening but you would think they would say this was not directed from above. The fact they don't means it probably was which would be incredible really.

I was stunned when they were expelled but when you put it all together I don't think there can be any other solution.

They won't, Steve Gibson will tie them all up in legal knots, at best they'll get the points deduction reduced to say 2 points.

Problem is, the more this goes on, the more will come out, if they have been spying on everyone sine Eckart took over then it could translate into 20 point deduction.

They just need to swallow this pill.

One thing's for sure, if Ipswich had been caught and found guilty of doing this, as a supporter I would expect to be expelled from the competition, and would want the club to accept the punishment and move on.

I wouldn't even want to contemplate the idea that my club could/should still be able to get promotion to the richest league in the world off the back of cheating.

Soton fans should just keep quiet and accept their clubs punishment.

It hasn't been. Southampton were not promoted. Promotion has not been taken away from them. It is only the chance which has been forfeited. Hull were never simply going to let them win.

The arrogance and entitlement is quite breathtaking.

That wasn't a punishment though, its a points penalty for a psr situation but it then emphasises the amount of the Everton overspend, bizarre.

I've heard from ITKers online that this is in fact the case, problem is the case is considered closed once this appeal is completed

I am quite happy for their points deduction to be removed. Makes the league even harder next season just in case Norwich pick up where they left off.

In other words.

Sorry we got caught.

Other clubs did stuff etc etc.

If anything, I hope their points deduction is trebled.
