| 3rd choice striker? on 20:25 - Jun 12 with 2739 views | ParisBlue | Think I read that Saints had a window to take up their option once based in when the season had completed. Once they were thrown out of the play-offs that window immediately passed, meaning they could only make an offer which he rejected. | |

Think it's widely known a return to Wolves was pretty much the only club he was leaving Fulham for. (And before you say City, Arsenal etc weren't in for him) | | | | Login to get fewer ads
| 3rd choice striker? on 00:06 - Jun 13 with 1612 views | Nutkins_Return | On a free. Yes 100% But for injuries I think he'd have established himself a prem.striker last time they went up. Injuries the gamble but on a free has to be considered. | |

Yep, has averaged 13 league games over the last 3 seasons. Decent enough option but given that record I’d have serious doubts about his resilience!

Not really considering they knew McK was leaving a month ago and obvs the new Manager will have his own targets.

I think that’s a key point. Seeing a lot of reactions to player suggestions such as they would be good cover etc which to my mind miss the point - we need to focusing on players that will start for us or at least contribute consistently from the bench. We need genuine quality all over the pitch not cover. Ross Stewart - good player but not good enough for what we need.

Yeah we need 7 or 8 who are going to come in better than what we’ve got, rendering the current options as the back up. I’ve also seen people talking of right back and right side cover, that’s where we need better quality and Furlong / McAteer become the cover. That said in the forward area if we signed 1 ‘big ticket’ 9 to come in and start and someone like Stewart to back up with Hirst I’d be ok with it.

As a first choice - how about Nicolo Tresoldi. He’s at Club Bruges, who are ranked way above us. But we’re in the Prem now. Worth a try, if he went to Arsenal he’d warm the bench. Or Kasper Hogh from Bodo/Glimt [Post edited 13 Jun 11:25]

…there’s even more reason to get him in immediately.

Yep. We've already got the cover players in the squad. My view is that every player we sign this Summer needs to be an upgrade on what we already have.

He is an upgrade in my opinion. Injuries are the only question mark but he's been free of them for most of last season and seemed back to his best No question in my mind he's a superior player to Hirst. It would have to be a £30mil man with him though. And the argument is would we be better to go for two £15-20 mil men with Hirst. A fit Stewart is a £15-20 mil player. In summary it's a tricky one 🤣

Apparently Tszolis has been offered to Arsenal, if that happens IDK if they'd let another striker go
