Come on admit it?! You’re absolutely hooked on the World Cup now 21:33 - Jun 15 with 2806 viewsunstableblue

Best sport in the world

Greatest sporting event in the world (apart form East Anglian derby)

And the quality levels across teams is high.. the playing field is maybe levelling?

Stadiums are pretty impressive to

Pitch concerns not materialised, and despite terrible ticket pricing, proper fans seem to be present

And England still to play

Other big game incoming

I was hooked before the actual World Cup tournament because of the crazy outcomes of the qualifiers.
I've been entertained. The only outcome I've been surprised by so far is Qatar drawing to Switzerland. Cabo Verde drawing to Spain doesn't surprise me, they beat Cameroon to quality automatically for a reason.

This.

I’ve enjoyed what I’ve seen of it so far.

Angola were also in their qualifying group

They had an Africa sports journalist on R4 this morning… he agreed that Caoe Verde are relatively strong and a very well run football association

Shame to hear about families of the team and fans unable to travel due to visa restrictions

This competition will be a success despite of Trump not because of him - he can stick to UFC

It's been great so far.

I do think the end of the group stages are likely to be pretty anticlimactic with the lack of jeopardy from the rule changes but knockouts should be brilliant.

Does this make you a world cup happy clapper then?

Cheering FIFA on as they fundamentally change a game of two halves into quarters and ripping the atmosphere out of grounds with ticket prices that only the prawn sandwich brigade can afford?

FWIW, I've dipped in and out. Feels a bit flat at the mo despite the ridiculous volume of Powerade I've been inspired to consume during the hydration breaks

Watched my first twenty minutes or so last night. Nice to see the Spanish being frustrated (although I like the Spanish) but was pleased to see that ITV didn't go to adverts during the 'H*dration Break' - is that standard for ITV?

Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!

I've enjoyed what I've watched. Obviously don't like the "hydration breaks" but the games have been fun.

My biggest issue with it is the size, and not that they've increased it but the amount they increased it to in combination with the format. It's basically made the group stage a bit irrelevant when most of the 3rd placed teams can still go through. Not as much jeopardy. If they wanted to increase it, might as well have gone for 64 teams with more knockouts.

I don’t think I’ve seen one positive comment aimed in the direction of FIFA. Just people enjoying some great football and seeing fans from all over the world coming together for a massive party. Plus in the whole we’ve have some superb punditry on the TV.

And if you’d seen the fans in the stadiums creating a fantastic atmosphere they are far from the the prawn sandwich brigade.

Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened.

Is it because the rules have change re corners etc for the World Cup.

Not sure you can compare games without those rules? Of course there is less of it.

I think the only rule change at corners is wrestling before the ball is in play can be penalised. Credit to IFAB for actually trying to enforce the laws of the game and keep the game moving instead of just giving up as we have done in England. Sick and tired of watching teams take three weeks to prepare for a corner while a dozen grown men try to pull each other to the ground.

Can only base it on what i've seen and the atmosphere has generally felt flat

Admittedly i didn't watch Scotland but based on the videos of them at Fenway park i can imagine it was a lot more lively!

I wouldn't say I'm hooked, no. The timings of the games is the biggest issue for me.

the timing and the lack of jeopardy is an issue at the moment, also the heat.

the first 2 will improve as we go on, though the latter may be more of a cumulative problem

I'm just sad I'm not able to watch more of it tbh. Love the tournaments where you can put a game on sneakily at work.

Touché Wally.

Endless football, watching players and countries you’d never watch normally, got to love it. Minus the early hours games.

Not watcheed any, not at all motivated to, but will watch the England match tomorrow. There is so much wrong with FIFA, and the fact that Infantino is so far up Trump’s arse really upsets me. FIFA was totally corrupt under Blatter and Platini, but I think this lot are just as bad.

I was so upset when Benin lost 4-0 to Nigeria. That would have been an unreal outcome and absolute football heritage because it would have meant South Africa would have missed out on automatic qualification because of their enforced 3-0 forfeit to Lesotho.

Nigeria still missed out anyway.

I was still a bit sceptical up until last night, but Cape Verdi making Rodri chuck his toys out of the pram for the millionth time, followed by Belgium and Egypt duking it out....

Yeah, I'm in.

Is it me or are there more goals in this one so far?

Enjoying it, being honest. I was hoping to see loads of empty seats because of the ticket pricing, but thats not really happening - think I've just got to accept that there will always be people willing to pay whatever they're asked, no matter how high a price.

has there been discounting?

all for it in principle, as it looks better on tv and makes the atmosphere loads better, but might not be so pleased if i'd paid full price!
