Sitting in A & E after tripping up over a tree root during my morning run in the woods. Smashed my head in and I look like Terry Butcher. What an idiot. Pray for me π

edit. Just had a call from the hospital to say someone else looked at the x ray and I may have a fracture to the jaw. They are now sending the x ray to a specialist. I feel no pain there though.

I very nearly got done like that on some concrete steps last week. Just caught the end of my foot and went down, fortunately without banging anything.
Me too, getting up onto pavement from private road in local park last week whilst walking the mutt. Had had eye on lone young male walking towards me & swerved to avoid him. He then, all concerned & kind, asked if I needed any help getting up! (thanked him but I didn't). Scraped knee & elbow only. What an accident prone lot we seem to be atm!

My mate had one at 40.

Had several at 40 too, caused by CO poisoning from faulty boiler in house I'd just bought.
The scan diagnosing them (very, very late scan - conducted only to keep me quiet after GP & junior hosp doc failed to recognise classic stroke symptoms in numerous episodes over several weeks, with me insisting that something was systemically wrong with my body) also revealed a childhood one probably caused by either my mother or awful teacher who both gave me a hard smack across my left ear on different occasions. I'd always wondered why I sometimes didn't make connections between things from then on.
Zero recovery help/advice offered by NHS after the adult ones in 1989, had to teach myself to walk again. Thank heavens some things have changed, including recognition that strokes can happen in younger people.

really think that the young male should have been moving out of your way !! My accident story Step ladder collapsed under me the other day. It jack-knifed shut and slid in one direction, I was catapultedin the other direction backwards and crashed onto a stone floor. I have never known a step ladder do that. Usually in a fall you have enough time to react, but this was absolutely in an instant, which was probably good as I fell square to the floor as all wrestlers are taught to (not that I wrestle) and took the brunt on my heel, butt and upper back/shoulders. My glasses flew 15 feet into the next room! Thankfully my head did not contact the floor or it might have been curtains. Winded but no serious damage. I did not get checked out as I had a walking holiday planned in Switzerland 2 days later so did not want any news of the odd fractured rib,vertebrae etc. I made it to Switzerland and thankfully ibruprofen controlled the pain well enough.

As it happens, I usually do. Not in situations like that though, given the crime stats re male perpetrators on women. Avoided my bag being snatched when walking down a deserted Brixton street in my late 30s, only me & one guy loitering by a door looking at & waiting for me to pass, I put bag on other shoulder & sidestepped him as he moved out, luckily he didn't follow up, just opportunist.

What a horrendous mishap! Glad you're OK. I know the feeling re going to A&E & usually swerve it at all costs unless obvious broken limb, & can't move or something.
Yep, I had a better day. Played golf on a lovely course in Kent. Magnificent bacon roll (three slices of bacon), a good group. Whilst not winning, came away with golf balls and a golf shirt for nearest the pin in two. Chicken burger chips and salad and a couple of beers before home. A lovely day.
On a less flippant note my mateβs nephew, age mid 40s, went to sleep on Saturday night and never woke up. Died in the night with no warning whatsoever. Try to live each day, folks.
For the wounded of TWTD, I hope you get better soon - and do what the medical people tell you!! Head injuries especially need strict care.!

My mate was bit of a lad with the drink and drugs for a long time and it eventually caught him up.
He sadly lost his Father at a young age,and that did his nut in.
Thankfully he survived but he has had a couple of smaller strokes since I believe.
Thanks guys just waiting for MRI scan then out of here. Especially with england game tomorrow. On plus side the misses has baked chocolate brownies and daughters getting me away top lol.
