Yeah, I’ll definitely take that opinion over anyone who’s worked in football and played him in 200 odd games for one of the best clubs in Portugal.

That's a similar view that the TV critics had of Coronation Street in December 1960 - how wrong were they!

I just think some players thrive in different systems and different environments. Must be a player in there somewhere for him to have the career he has had up until now.

Will reserve any judgement until I see him in a town shirt.

Was he one of the ones who adored Ashley Barnes?

Considering I think we'll be signing a few CM's

Question is

Is this fella better than our other options other than Azor

Yes i the answer and even maybe better than Azor, we will see on that front
But Over Humphreys, Nunez and Taylor. By a mile yes.

This is step 1 in shaping our Midfield. It's a good start

I agree with all- I am not going to judge him, and will trust there is a player there who can be coached and adapted.

Just sharing the views of a long time Burnley season ticket holder for interest

I'd take anything you read from Burnley fans with a pinch of salt. One good game and they're calling him "World Class" and think he's the best thing since sliced bread, and yet, as soon as they hear he's leaving "he's useless!!!"

They're quite a fickle bunch to be honest. Mind you, that'll mean it's like home from home when he's playing in front of the Sir Alf Ramsay stand!

If you look at the Turf Cast Facebook page, here are the comments when they're doing well:

Isnt it reasonable to assume he is currently better than Azor on the basis that otherwise Azor would have been playing PL football last season not Championship. These players are all known across the scouting networks and Azor is not a young unknown player.

I have a Porto supporting mate who says we was "OK" for Benfica, which coming from a Porto supporter means he was at least decent.

I think it's just that a fair bit of time has passed

Nunez at points last season looked like an absolute world beater as a 10, but after the full season I think it's pretty fair to say that it's not his best position. Similar to a lot of fans views on Sindre after the first few games Vs Sindre now

Interesting that of all the positive reviews of Luis are from early in the season when Burnley were doing well.

He is a midfielder and we don't have any fit or otherwise so this is progress. If he is rubbish we can sell him to Hull. Good old Hull.

Doesn't really matter if we get someone to play next to him who can pass 20 feet

Odd for a guy who had 84% pass completion in the PL with better stats than pahlinia

Well, plenty here were saying the same "trust KM decision over x", "Burnley fans are x" over posts criticising the signing of wonder keeper Muric in 2024 and see what happened?

I am taking this signing with a pinch of salt. Never pulled up trees at Burnley and we are paying 16 mil for him. Rather get a tested and proven PL MF like Lukic, fingers crossed we are still in for him

IMO the only players worth signing from relegated sides are tested and proven ones - such as Jimenez, Wan-Bissaka, Bowen etc. if not don't bother

Interesting thoughts from a Benfica fan posted under a youtube compilation video - i'm struggling to marry up comments of 'can't pass a ball 5 feet' yet has a 85%-90% career pass completion rate

From a Benfica fan POV, I just wanna say that the video makes it seem like he is a very good long passer, which is not really the case, we usually partner him up with someone who is a very good distributor like Enzo and now Kokcu, but he is not bad, just decent, but on the other hand he is one of the best in the league in terms of progressive passes, so his incredible passing % isnt because he just passes it sideways and back. Also wanna say that he is an incredible tackler and ball winner, sometimes the opposition player is still thinking who to pass the ball to and Florentino is already on the player that is gonna try to receive it, he reads those situations very well, probably his best attribute.

He doesn't stay on the ball too long, he gets it, and instantly bounces it to someone else. About press resistance, he doesnt get tested that often, because in portugal we usually play against buses, but in the CL against PSG, Juve etc it was never a problem

Absolute bull@hit. I know a Burnley supporter very well. I went with him to a couple of games last season , I saw this guy play, ALL of their supporters i spoke to said he was improving as the season went on. Looked a strong lad , a ball winner , and a hard worker. Doubt if there are many on here who have actually seen him play. So believe the first hand experience for a change instead of other peoples rubbish.
