The same guy who posted on YouTube that Birmingham are in for Taylor, is now saying Birmingham have bid for mehmeti.

Poll: best attacking central midfielder?

Perhaps a controversial take but I thought he got worse with the more coaching he got here. When he came here he played with a freedom then become too structured and predictable.

Totally agree, could have been many reasons other than coaching though. I think the way we played is very demanding on players coming in cold

The only Muff in Town.

I think the same happened with a few of our players

I swear neil was one

Debut v derby he looked like we got that CM we seemed desperate for, but he was pretty pants the more training time he had

Egeli.......................

Worth remembering we played Mehmeti almost exclusively in the no.10 last season, but he's a lot more natural coming in from the left, dribbling and getting shots away.

I wouldn't be surprised, if we're moving McAteer on I would expect we'd move Mehmeti on. I wouldn't even be surprised if Nunez and Akpom were also found new homes.

Agreed on all 4

I'm sure that's right, and also it clearly doesn't suit all players' games.

Kieran was fantastic, but his way is not the only game in town. Especially in the Premier League.

Comments about how we are set up, and players maybe not playing in their best/likely future position under Kieran have been made about more than one player recently: Mehmeti, Egeli, Nunez, Akpom. And of course SS may be a different type of case, but he didn't excel in our system.

It will be interesting to see if there are some players who can excel in either a different system, or used differently in a similar system.

But I do feel that there will be numerous arrivals for substantial money, and that some forwards may have to move on. Mehmeti and even Nunez are at least possible candidates.

He may have more freedom under O’Neil

Mehmeti had been flogged by Bristol before he got here physically - ultra intense pressing system playing every minute

He is the fittest player at the club though

Think we have to remove any sentiment about anyone at this point – we're going for it this summer, we really need to stay up this time and the dealings will reflect that.

Which is why I was very surprised we gave Burns a new deal (as much as I love him)

Because you need the right balance. You need a few of the 'old guard' to continue to set the standards of the club, both on and off the pitch.

Burns offers a lot great going foward and a decent defender, can’t think of many have those qualities to that level. Leif is as good defensively for me, and Furlong nowhere near as good going towards, SWE not as good at either not Macateer.

If we play a wing back Wes is perfect

I'd keep him/ think he will stay for a couple of reasons.

Of the left-sided players, he's the only one who inverts and plays centrally very naturally. Something that we don't currently have.

If GON wants to play 3-4-2-1 then we could do that very easily.

He's started in the 10 for the first XI in every pre-season friendly so far.

If we did get relegated then we have someone who would be one of the best players in the league and wouldn't kick up a fuss, that is important.

Best players in the league is a bit of a stretch, he’s never played higher than Bristol before and parachute money has been flowing through that division for a while. Think we only brought him because of the fee and last year in his contract. He’d have been snapped up before if he was that highly rated.

Decent but with the quality and money kicking about down there now he’s not near that. If we went down, that would be 6 windows we had with PL money and our squad should have a better calibre of player in there then Mehmeti that we are able to keep hold of.

Poll: Ok gut feeling then, promotion?

All depends on who the replacements are for these players but I'd like to see Mehmeti given a chance generally, probably not as a regular starter.

He's technically very good, works and presses hard, doesn't mind a scrap and he can score goals out of nothing. I think he'd be a good one to keep around.

But doesn't have either the pace or creativity to make it in PL. If he had one or the other I'd agree.

I kind of see that point, although I do also think Wes's actual playing ability, especially for this level, is being exegerated by some.

Think Mehmeti was one of KM’s panic signings in a similar vain to AAH. 25 goals in 123 appearances for Bristol City is hardly prolific.

I relate, here where our problem is now lying,
Were on paper signing better quality but these players people are saying offload would serve us well and probably get us back up if we're relegated,
The ones we're signing will more than likely jump ship leaving us in right mess completely new build again, and we know how that goes,on the flip if we stay up then there good decisions,
Were certainly between a rock and a hard place,

We are either a prem club or a championship club. A hybrid of both will only be an expensive championship club. Next season is something to worry about next summer.

Absolutely no panic with Mehmeti he's an asset that was always worth more than we paid as he was in the last 6 months/year of his contract. Also are you one of those that doesn't understand the managers/coaches job these days?

Precisely - the Luton scenario and look what happened to them. No point getting mercenaries who just up and leave as soon as you're relegated.

Is one in five a bad strike rate for an attacking midfielder?

Think there is a good chance he leaves and we make a nice profit given we got him on the cheap.
