That black tarmac running all the way along. Because its a bit random and away from the new bars.. could they be foundations for next summer extra tier work?
I thought the plan was to build over the top of the existing West Stand so that they could move everyone’s over from the other side while that gets knocked down and rebuilt in its entirety
Can't imagine this work impacts plans for the west stand too much. It will have cost a reasonable amount to you or I but in the scheme of a stand re-development it's peanuts and should make some money back I guess.
I think the West stand is basically years off anyway and the Cobbold will be the first priority. I would be surprised if boots on the ground for Cobbold aren't in the next 2-3 years.
Does that work impact on the path of personalised bricks that was laid in the early 2000's?
I had my dad’s memorial brick there for 20 odd years and have been informed by the club that they were ‘carefully’ removed and will be relocated. Still awaiting to find out where.
Been told there is no chance of a tier being added to the Pioneer stand.
The way the Cobbold will be rebuilt will see a huge upper tier going in first, with most of the Cobbold remaining intact. Obviously been a while in planning/thinking ahead and the council ensuring that the road behind can be "got rid of" to facilitate the build.
That makes a lot of sense, plenty of room to expand that way. And probably easier than whatever the plans are for Cobbold and the leisure centre and/or swimming pool.
Whatever happens, exciting stuff.
This is what I had in mind. Very crude illustration, based on the Coventry Arena.
We get the conference / event arena that's wanted, plus extend it into the existing ground to redevelop / extend the existing West Stand.
Stadium really lets the club down with the old stands with asbestos roofs. Neglect over many years under the ME era, sadly it’s now one of the worst stadiums in the PL. Literally ever season is like polishing a turd!
It's called Soul son. Try some of the sterile holes we've been too. Tell us your favourite.

My gran bought me one.
I get that it was a bit of a novelty, but would be nice to know where they are going.
My guess is that it will be accessible and safe to get in/out but the new concession stands, etc won't be in for the first match. Reckon they'll be hoping we don't get a home tie for Round 2 of the Carabao Cup so they can crack on again straight after the Sunderland game.
They have done something to the roof of both east and west stands. Looks like they have removed something and actually taken them down to bare surface. To me i think they are doing as much as they can before they are actually taken down. Lots of prep work essentially that can be done before any major works is undertaken. Seems like a sensible move.
They have pressure washed the roofs to get rid of the moss/lichen growth.
Has the blue Astro around the pitch perimeter faded quite a lot or is it just the lighting. Was that there for the first Championship season (done 3 seasons) or just for the first Premier season (done 2)?
Does it go in the blue bin, or the black bin?
Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!
