| Delap to Ipswich? on 09:45 - Aug 7 by BloomBlue | £40m? Knowing Chelsea's ability with sales more likely £60m. |
Only repeating how it's been reported so far. Surely also depends on how keen they are to offload him, how much they need to turn the revenue and who's going to pay £60M? ManU throw the cash around, so maybe they would - but one of the stronger links right now is to Leeds, who will have less headroom right now.

I think he is a great striker. Just look at what happened to de bryne and salah when they went somewhere where they are loved.

| Delap to Ipswich? on 09:37 - Aug 7 by RIPbobby | Bad move in my eyes. Id prefer Jackson. Liam had a good four months for us and was average the rest of the time. I would not do a deal with chelsea either as they will always win. Perhaps the season loan is the only way I'd be content. Just think there are better deals out there, somewhere. |
Don't disagree with you that it might not be a good move. But if Ashton thought it was the right move, he's kept the door open for a return. We have seen how hard it is to bring strikers in over the last few years, so having the iron in the fire with Delap best worst position we have. I've always thought he was signed as a right winger and moved up top as we couldn't get the striker we wanted. Maybe I'm wrong.

Got all the stuff for the PL, strong physique, rapid, and thumping shot. Just needs to be with a competent club who will use him to his strengths.

You could see how McKenna began to make a real difference with him over that season. Wonder if he would be more inclined to come here if McKenna was still in charge. We are still a competent club, but are going through a bit of a transition period

| Delap to Ipswich? on 10:00 - Aug 7 by Garv | It would be stupid not to entertain it. One season doesn't define a player, especially a young player at Chelsea. Be surprised if it happens. Would feel like Delap admitting defeat a little, frankly he can do better than a relegation fighting team. |
It's an easy story to put together, given that Chelsea want rid & Delap was a success at Town. But he might prefer a move to a mid ranking PL club than a likely relegation battle.

Some of these mid prem teams could find themselves in that battle tho Its not a given that us 3 promoted sides are just gonna roll over.

| Delap to Ipswich? on 09:18 - Aug 7 by Wallingford_Boy | Shush, do not excite me this early in the morning. We'd be mad to turn that loan down if it's really an option. Outstanding for us in the Prem last time, one bad stop/start season for Chelsea does not make him a bad player. |
Certainly doesn't make him a good one either. We all wait to see. Not for me I'm afraid. If it happens, believe me, I'll be more than happy to be proved wrong.
