I think he has limited informal contacts within the club these days, particularly on transfers, but his piece on FarageGate and how he wrote about that suggests to me he's not a mouthpiece. He definitely didn't pull any punches there.

Do recall him saying recently the EADT/Star will deliberately sit on information if it's in the best interests of the club by not alerting others to a potential transfer.
