Here we go again with the R word. You don't have to be racist, (or thick)..that's a nice double whammy today, to have concerns about:
a) RNLI acting as a taxi service for continuous, planned arrivals. This isn't a medical or sea emergency under SOLAS, it's foreseeable, not a mayday.
b) Unvetted people arriving continuously, that's a fair thing to want answers on.
The Pakistan cricket team thing is a terrible look, can't defend it. Do consider though that many people really have had enough of a) & b) and a coach load of people turning up together is going to raise questions. That's human nature, not automatically hate or stupidity.

Look, I disagree with benters plenty on here, and think his position is a bit incoherent at times (I'm being generous), but i don't think attack and challenge on almost every post is that helpful.
Why not?
He's offering up an position, usually without any evidence or even in direct contradiction to the evidence. Why can't that be challenged?
If he doesn't want to be challenged then he should support his positions rather than constantly refusing to do that when asked. Offering up a nice story doesn't take away the truth of the point being made to him.
He's more than happy to put the boot in, join in a pile-on or wind people up so I doubt many have much sympathy.

The abuse is awful. The RNLI personnel should not receive any abuse.
The RNLI needs to have a think about their policies. Make them clear and broadcast those, whatever they are. If they are going to continue to pick up planned trips then so be it, people then have a choice if they choose to support/ donate.
Honestly, the policy is to save lives of those in danger at sea. 150 people in a dinghy in the middle of the sea and major shipping in autumn, will fall under that category.

I didn’t realise I had so much clout tbh.
Yesterday I made love for the first time in 6 weeks,went for a walk to a farm I hadn’t been to again for 6 weeks.
Sat in the church yard for a bit on the way home,had a bottle of Ghostship and Cottage pie for lunch.
Then have a lovely Kip on my bed in the sun,the cat was by my feet.
I haven’t even mentioned the RNLI and apart from The Lizard Lifeboat which I always donate to,I won’t.

They aren't intelligent enough to understand things so mis quote, misunderstand and peddle their mistruth as fact and its just snowballs, especially with the advent of scoial media that effectively makes it a 'truth' even though there is no evidence for it whatsover.
The danger with these people is their opinion never changes, even when it clearly shown to them that they are mistaken. I don't think i've ever seen him backtrack on any of his mistruths in all his time posting despite being clearly shown what they are syaing in incorrect.

Coupled/exacerbated/caused by a continuing obsession by governments with measurement of school performace which itself is partly measured by chidrens' performances in exams/tests/etc.

The latter knocks on the head the claim that the RNLI is a taxi service, but sadly the simplistic slogan, which is designed to cause an emotional response as with many slogans from the right, achieves its aim amongst those taken in by it.

I feel very sorry for the current generation of students, as being able to evaluate source material was a lot simpler in my time prior to the web (particularly social media) which has made it a minefield; you can add AI generated information into the mix now too.
We're now approaching the 10th anniversary of this term entering the dictionary too...
...so I fear it's too late to row back against the spread of disinformation / misinformation, but I always make a point of calling it out when I see it. I've done so earlier on this thread, but that poster has turned it into a trolling exercise, so not going to get sucked into that.
I recently had to call out a poster on another thread who when asked to provide evidence of an event taking place, posted a video published by a dubious X account of a similar event taking place in another location; said poster never acknowledged they had done anything wrong.
I'm not on X or similar because of the harmful number of mistruths that end up being peddled; always found this site to be better than that, so sad to find some of that creeping in
