| Looks like Scherpen is the new scape goat 16:51 - Sep 7 with 5581 views | BelsteadCav | The stick I’ve seen him getting on social media is unbelievable. We’ve played Man U and Liverpool back to back but people are already claiming he’s worse than Muric. Footballers look at social media. This isn’t helping at all. | |

| Looks like Scherpen is the new scape goat on 17:16 - Sep 7 by SheffordBlue | Think he's made some mistakes but was surprised to see that he has also made the joint most number of saves in the Prem so far and has a better Save % than Roefs, Bizot, Verbruggen, Rushworth, Leno, Kinsky, Sels, Henderson and Lammens. The Hull keeper has had an amazing start to the season but his 100% save record isn't going to last and will probably even out. To be successful this season we probably need our keeper to have a 'top third' keeper record by the end of the season. |
I would love to see the comparison of his performance against Allison's at the other end because I felt there were a couple of times where their attack was far better at capitalising on chances than ours was and our defence didn't mop up in front of the keeper anything like as well as theirs did. That shouldn't be a surprise as every single player in their squad is worth at least twice as much as the player in our squad that they were up against. I think that Allison got lucky from a couple of corners/crosses and spilling a shot which were things Scherpen didn't do/get away with. Instead Scherpen was caught out by a powerful shot at his near post and getting caught out of position for the second. I hope he learns from those mistakes. Begovic has just on SSN that he is young and the improvement in decision making will come. Let's hope it does quickly.

| Looks like Scherpen is the new scape goat on 17:54 - Sep 7 by ReusersTown | Social media has given thickos a very loud voice with the way that it has been monetised and the focus on it by large corporations. The morons are more interested in attention than the good of the team unfortunately. In all honesty if Muric was given the appropriate respect he'd probably still be our keeper now and be playing pretty well if wager. |
Yep, just like " supporters " everywhere, we have some that just love kicking someone when they're down, and never give them a chance to get up again. The first goal against Liverpool was down to errors by about 5 other players before it even got to Scherpen. Not seen any of them getting it in the neck.

This needs repeated reposting everywhere in bold... 'Think he's made some mistakes but was surprised to see that he has also made the joint most number of saves in the Prem so far and has a better Save % than Roefs, Bizot, Verbruggen, Rushworth, Leno, Kinsky, Sels, Henderson and Lammens.' ...until the self-destructive thickos get the hang of it. Of course, it won't stop the portion who are budgie wind up merchants, but there's nowt to be done about that. 🎶"Super, super Kjell, Super, super Kjell, Super, super Kjell, Super Kjell Scherpen"🎶

Really good analysis. Refreshingly he wasn't too damming of Scherpen and took into consideration Scherpens age and said he will improve and make better decisions with more experience. Not the time to panic folks.

| Looks like Scherpen is the new scape goat on 18:44 - Sep 7 by football | Our fans always have to have one. Guess means McAteer is out of the frame for a few weeks. I've said this before, how can this negativity help the players. People need to think before they right, and if they can't be positive or polite probably should refrain from writing anything. Or, as its going to be a long season against a lot of very good teams, they realise this team isnt the one to support as it may upset them for many weeks of the season |
I love your statement "People need to think before they right," but I agree 100% with what you have written.

The way I see it is like this a football player that costs £123m or something daft is going to score a better goal than a football player that costs £13m Not every time, but it will be harder to save. We may have spent what is it £200m but that’s peanuts in this modern game.

Agree, £350m spent in 3 years to have the third lowest squad value wise in the league. Whilst to us 193m sounds amazing Liverpool had two players that cost more. 3rdbottom for us is par, 4th bottom would be amazing even though some think we'll be mid table.

| Looks like Scherpen is the new scape goat on 06:56 - Sep 8 with 666 views | jayessess | Let's hope Scherpen has the character to come through this and the rest of the squad have his back. It would be an absolute disaster to end up in the same place in 2024-25 where we had two goalkeeper without enough ability and one who did have enough but clearly had relationships break down with manager, defender and fanbase. | |

I reckon somewhere around 17th. Hopefully not lower than that.

| Looks like Scherpen is the new scape goat on 07:23 - Sep 8 with 635 views | Churchman | The great news for the haters is that with a concert effort, they should be able to break him just as they did Muric. Pile in lads! People do read social media or hear about it if they don’t I’m sure and that’s aside from potential abuse dished up in earshot behind the goal. There is a time and a place for hurling abuse at people. Players in a team you claim to support isn’t one of them. In what way does it help? It can’t have helped Hirst last year and who knows, a little support and he might have got his form back sooner. He scored on Saturday btw. Do the perpetrators feel good about themselves ‘influencing’? Get a bit of an adrenaline rush? I don’t understand it. Scherpen is top of the hate parade at the moment. I suspect Egeli will get the treatment if and when he next plays. In the meantime, my money is on Fatawu to challenge Scherpen in the abuse race, unless he starts banging goals in soon. To finish 17th, we will have had to out-point at least one of the established teams. To do that, will will need to have levered ourselves up to their level, which will make us competitive with a number of clubs at the lower end of the table and therefore capable of finishing above them. | |

I find it nuts we loaned KVO out. I know a couple of people that watch a lot of Dutch football and they say he is the real deal. They are really surprised we seem to rate Scherpen more highly than him. Seems daft to me we have sent him out when our alternatives are two keepers we know are bang average Championship standard. We really need Scherpen to perform - hopefully he does.

"bang average Championship standard" - Walton was second best Champ GK last season on goals prevented: https://www.fotmob.com/en-GB/l Fourth best on save percent: https://www.fotmob.com/en-GB/l

They're both young and need experience. One of them won't get that if they both stay here.

| Looks like Scherpen is the new scape goat on 12:46 - Sep 8 with 434 views | IPSWICHFANITFC | I like what I have seen from him so far. It hasn't been a perfect start, but he is well attributed for a goalkeeper. He will have watched the goals back knowing he should have done better. At the time I thought the power Isak got on the first goal was very good, and although Scherpen was close to it, I can see why people feel he should save it. The second goal was poor decision making and positioning though in my opinion, but he will know if he felt he could have done better for the goals. But there are good signs - handling, reflexes, shot stopping, handling, resilience etc... get behind him. | |
