Most of the UK’s supply comes from the US and Norway, so where OP says Europe I assume he means the continent, supplies here are unlikely to be majorly impacted - albeit the price will be. Some spot prices are well above the price of Brent crude, so it’s looking like a bidding war for shipments to impacted countries. | | | |

Possibly removing sanctions on Russia (not the morally correct thing to do), but that’s doubtful given their production is down to the point of rationing.
Where we are missing out with UK production is of course the tax money - it’s still at the windfall rate of 78pc so we’d actually get more of the profit than the producers. Instead US and Norway are the beneficiaries of the price uplift.
The constant flip flopping on licensing from successive governments have seen E&P firms lose interest due to instability. BP have put their NS assets up for sale. Burnham has delayed the Rosebank decision again, that field alone was likely to be productive for 25 years paying huge amounts to the treasury. | | | |

If he wanted to approve the Rosebank oil/gas field, now is the most opportune time possible. Makes you think that he does not want to do so. And will be happily flying the net zero flag as soon as the oil situation calms down (if it ever does). Me and my oil heating tank fervently hopes it calms down soon ! The impact of transport fuel costs rises are reduced because of the high element of tax inbuilt, so rises have been around 25%ish. Heating oil has doubled which is tough at the moment for those off the gas grid with winter ahead. | | | |

There's still the inflationary effect this will have on goods particularly food to worry about.
Then the knock on with interest rates which are already expected to be under pressure.

Most of the argument from the right isn't that it produces more taxes, but it will bring down the price of oil/gas/petrol etc.

Indeed. I’m basically going to use the wood burner for heating this winter and am fortunate enough to have some smallish dead trees at clients gardens that I’m currently logging.
Regarding the current petrol/diesel prices, it’s gone up 6 pence at my local garage since Monday and was told by the proprietor this morning that it will be going up again next week to over 2 quid a litre.
Thanks to the orange spunk trumpet and the other protagonists, no sign that the price of oil will come down in the foreseeable. |  |

I'd like to know the percentage of EV cars that are purchased personally compared to those putting it through a business/company.
If I had a company, I'd definitely get an EV and put it through. The benefit in kind isn't much.
However, for an individual to firstly fork out £40k+ on a car, and get all the stuff fitted at home is a massive price. Also, do you even have the space to have a charger at your house. Not everyone has drives, and even if they do they aren't necessarily near their house. | | | |

I got my Nissan Leaf second hand for £8.5K - used a personal loan rather than a lease.
Plenty of miles/warranty left on the battery.
Haven't got a home charger fitted - I just use the (admittedly very slow) standard three-pin charging when I need to. Helpfully, I can charge at work for free. | |
