What will Cov do with Lampard if they keep losing? 22:05 - Sep 16 with 2352 viewsJoey_Joe_Joe_Junior

Like when would the cutoff point be? It's his squad really as well but if you were literally on 0 points after 7-8 games, surely, it starts to get dicey.

I don't think they will want to do it but you can't go into like match week 11 with 0 points can you. Well, you can but it would be hard to not sack him at that point.

That Hull game at the end of August was probably the biggest game of the PL season so far really!

I doubt anyone will do any better than Frank this season, so why not keep him to bring them up again. They know he can do it already, and next time he may have the money to keep them up.

Almost sounds too sensible.

Because you have to act as an owner at some point, there are no mangers that survive 10 league defeats on the spin, well not without a few points on the board first.

I’m just thinking about McKenna and it worked for us. Ultimately, they are going down so it’s then about getting back straight away.

I get what you’re saying, but it’s not necessarily the right call. Maybe.

Saying that, if a bottom half Prem vacancy appears - and knowing chairman get blinded by playing success - he may jump anyway!

I think they should just stick with him and address it in January, say its bloody hard, sorry everyone this season isn't going as wished. We are going to shuffle around getting ready for to be a top Championship side next season and come up even stronger, as is the intelligent long term plan.

It's not like Coventry aren't good under Lampard, its just every team in the Prem is absolutely stacked with talent.

The other issue always is who can get you attract to lose a bunch of games and then turn it around in the Championship.
Can't see Dyche or any other survival experts, they won't pay the managers wages and they don't have the team to really convince them its possible.

Rob Edwards? Knows how to deal with it, re-compose the team and do it in the Champ. But, again is he really better than Lampard long run.

If Hull and us keep picking up points and Fulham continue improving things could look very bleak for them by end of October.

Not sure even Pep could keep them up so don't see that a change would make the outcome any different.

It's just sacking the manager as a case of being seen to do something.

I'm glad we didn't sack off KM even though results probably merited it (cue downvotes) but the board were sensible enough to look beyond 9 home defeats in a row and realise longer term he'd get us back up.

Trouble is if they sack him then he will probably get replaced with someone like Sean Dyche who has what it takes to keep them up.

Completely agree, although in many ways sacking him before the end of the year will be the worst possible choice and anyone coming in will almost certainly be on a hiding to nothing aswell. And they’ll have even less credit in the bank, so barring an unexpected turnaround they’ll be looking at the same scenario again come March

I'd be looking at he next 5 games, all teams that at the start of the season they would have fancied themselves to maybe pick up a point or 3. Honestly though, I can't see them doing that. The teams around them at the moment will start picking up points, and if the gap between them, and us and Hull gets bigger, they'll be doomed by November.

He's a very limited coach, credit where it's due for his time at Coventry, but I suspect he'll be out a job before Christmas and back in the Championship in an underwhelming position before the seasons end.

As an owner you can act without acting.

As we did with McKenna.

Surely he has more credit in the bank. Got them promoted comfortably, not necessarily against the odds but in a manner that certainly wasn't expected. They've not spent well in the summer but that's more on the recruitment team than Lampard personally. They really are us in 24/25 - too much to do to revamp the squad in one window, hard to bin off some players that did so well last season and they will go down.

I don’t really care who’s in charge of them to be honest, as long as they keep losing it’s just 1 less relegation spot for us to worry about.

Amenda went off with a calf injury yesterday as well, one of their new signings who was actually in the starting 11.

Some of their signings were bizarre. Still can't believe they spent 20 million on a 19 year old striker with 7 senior goals in his career so far.

I think Frank is more likely to jump at a bigger job than them sack him, he's done it before and there will be clubs after managers soon who might take a punt, Fulham could be one, or even, dare I say it, Spurs (ha).

Presumably he had the chance in the Summer which means Cov will show him more loyalty than might be sensible. I was surprised he stayed. Surely he isn't naive enough to think they've got any hope with their approach.

I wonder if they'd look at it with continuity in mind, i.e. not a chance they stay up, but is there a better option for them than Lampard to get them back up again if he's committing to having another go at that.

We're what? 10% of the way through the season, let's not write them off and be so dismissive because a lot can happen over the remainder of the season.

Always worries me to see posts being almost disrespectful to other teams as these sort of comments have a tendency to come back and bite you in the a**e.

We're sitting nicely on our expected points return, but Coventry should really have 3 on the board.

I think they should stick with Lampard, we've shown them what patience and a plan can do and they'd be in a great position to keep him whatever, knowing he can bring them back the season after better prepared.
