Protests at Gosport along with "Danny Tommo" out in the channel slashing a dingy with a knife that had a rescue worker onboard.

https://www.theguardian.com/wo

Rather worryingly there were ~100,000 people watching a live-stream of him doing it.

At the protests on land, emergency workers were assaulted:

"Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said it was conducting inquiries into the boat-slashing incident. It said officers had made six arrests for offences including assaulting an emergency worker and aggravated trespass. All six people were in custody on Tuesday night."

Also good to see the false narrative about asylum seekers getting given everything they could ever want is still going strong:

"Gosport local Dave Palmer, 43, was among the protesters. “We don’t want them in the country at all. They get given everything. I work 70 to 80-hour weeks as an air-conditioning engineer. What does the government give me? Nothing,” he said."

False information like this that is perpetually circulated within echo chambers needs to be tackled as well as the actual actions at protests. That is of course easier said than done though.

Do you believe no migrant has ever committed a crime?

I can assert with absolute confidence that nobody thinks or has ever claimed that, ever.

How has Piddington had their community impacted?

There are no people at the facility, it's proposed and not even open. They have no idea what the people will be like or how it will affect them. Another poster has said they have a similar setup at their village and it doesn't affect them at all.

The biggest impact/invasion Piddington have had, is Danny Tommo and his lot have visited it more than once and see it as their 'Mecca'.

Tommy Robinson is apparently heading there too.

Ridiculous question. People of all nationalities, religions and colour commit crimes. Sounds like you just want to shut the borders.
Do you not think Brits commit crimes abroad? I mean, I'd rather live in Piddington, next to an asylum camp, than in the centre of Benidorm, for example.

It's a 12 nautical mile (13.8 mile) limit of jurisdiction, except where the Channel is narrower than 27.6 miles (whereupon it's approximately half). Altho the UK and France have mutual extradition treaties to deal with people accused of offences in the other.

Outside of territorial waters, international (and UK) laws covering piracy on the high seas might apply.

This is the issue isn't it?

Once again we're back to trying to excuse the actions of these scumbags because legitimate concerns.

Migrants commiting crimes is bad.

Right wing protesters committing crimes is also bad.

I only asked because you seemed to be dismissing what Luke was saying about knowing people that have concerns about migrants, by saying you've never had any issues with them.

You mention Tommy Robinson and that other bloke and all their mob that are all wife beaters etc., but don't mention that there will also he part of the migration 'mob' that also commit crimes.

Which bit of policing being decimated did you miss? Which bit of Luke's posts called migrants criminals?

You've tried to deflect from your racism by tying it between the two of us, rather than actually engaging with the thread.

That's how mad and stupid it sounds when people come out with this "what about migrants?" stuff and ignore literally millions of more problematic and pressing things. Which would actually improve everyone's lives.

I find it annoying that the "boat problem" was caused by leaving the EU, but the vast majority of immigration protesters are also anti EU, they fail completely to see that is what caused the huge rise in illegal immigration in the first place. I strongly feel that Reform/Nigel Farage need high illegal immigrant numbers to get into any form of power, and made sure that a problem that did not exist, does now.

Exacerbated, rather than caused. The main route used to be lorries through the tunnel (we're going back to the early 00s on that). Then they secured up the entrances to the tunnel in france and the boats started. Brexit 'just' removed our returns agreement with EU countries, so theat encouraged the smugglers even more.

Yes, I'm pretty sure it's in Farage's interst to kepe the numbers high. This is possibly why some right-leaning outlets have made to no noise about the drop in numbers entering lately and the overall massive fall in all immigration (that has lead to substantial negative economic and social impacts).

You might be fine with it, but alot of communtiies are not overly happy about having some people chucked into their communities that don't seem to assimilate. I know people that have had their lives directly negatively impacted by illegal immigration into their community, and I don't think people should just be labelled as racists for raising genuine concerns over assimilation and the cultures that some of these people come from and the beliefs some of them hold.

But why is that the case?

- In Europe, there are 4 countries that take a higher absolute number asylum applications than the UK. Only one of these (Germany) has a bigger population that us.

- On a per-capita basis the UK isn't even in the top 10 countries in Europe for taking asylum applications (~1.5 per 1000 people compared to Greece with 5.3 per 1000 people).

Given this why is our system overwhelmed? Many other countries manage larger numbers so it looks more like awful management from successive governments rather than a structural impossibility. It should be well within the UK's remit not to be overwhelmed by the volume of applications.

Unfortunately there are plenty of sources out there pushing the narrative that we are in some way taking the lions share of this issue and it's simply not the case.

SB

Agreed with all that regarding numbers, but the political manifestations are arguably even bigger across the EU. The AfD, Rassemblement National, Freiheitliche Partei Österreichs.....und so weiter.

So how does the centre ground re-capture the debate? Or, are complaints about immigration simply a reflection of other more grounded concerns such as cost of living, employment and access to quality health and social care. I would also throw in the deep distrust of the broader establishment (government, civil service, police, court system etc). Part of this distrust must come from access to social media that everybody has in a way that wasn't present before.

Domestically in the UK, my hope is that the Conservative Party moves to the centre ground in order to re-establish itself. I do wonder whether support for nationalist parties is plateauing. Reform can not win many seats from moving even further to the right, the UK hasn't got a tradition of supporting far right parties.

When will people realise that the financial decline of this country is not solely down to immigration? A major factor is the concentration of wealth and asset ownership among the very wealthy, while the number of available assets, particularly housing, remains limited.

If you rent, that money is transferred to a property owner, who may then use the income and equity to acquire additional properties. This reduces the proportion of housing available for owner-occupiers and can make it increasingly difficult for ordinary people to get onto the property ladder.

Of course, having more people competing for the same assets can increase demand. However, the deeper issue is that wealth and assets are becoming concentrated in fewer hands, allowing asset owners to benefit disproportionately while many working people find it harder to build wealth themselves.

Discussions about economic decline often focus heavily on immigration, but this can distract from broader structural issues such as housing supply, wealth inequality, taxation, and the increasing concentration of asset ownership.

I'm delighted that Piddington has become a focus for SYL and Tommo since it might limit the amount of time they can devote to their acolytes in towns near the Wethersfield camp.

One also wonders why the existence of a different large facility housing a significant number of young possibly criminal men hasn't exercised the minds of Piddington residents before? It's roughly a whole mile closer than the MoD site that's proposed as a migrant holding centre.

Furthermore, the residents of Upper Arncott are presumably paid up members of the tofu eating wokerati given that we haven't heard anything from them. They're literally next door to the site in question.
