| Yeah, it's a minefield.... on 18:18 - Sep 29 by _CliveBaker_ | Good riddance, they can fook off. I do feel sorry for proper City fans in all this though. No doubt they've enjoyed the ride, but they didn't ask for it. |
My late uncle was a proper and lifelong City fan. He stopped going when the club was taken over because he 'knew what they'd become'. He's sadly long gone but completely vindicated.

Yeah, it's a minefield.... by Bloots 29 Sep 18:15....I don't see a scenario where they stay in the Prem after all this.
But would the EFL want them?
Might open up the "Super League" option again, get a few like minded "Superteams" on board and they can form their own league.
"The Riyadh Season World Superleague" - Exclusively live on Netflix.
....actually, that sounds feasible.

| More details on the Man City guilty verdict about to come on 18:44 - Sep 29 by armchaircritic59 | Considering nearly 20 years ago, Luton Town got docked 30 points for what in the scheme of things were far lesser offences and certainly not 114 of them (!), I think City should be in for a huge punishment, and one that serves as a big warning to everyone else. I just have this fear that the powers that be are going to choke on it and not do what they should do. Hope I'm wrong. |
The EFL didn’t choke over Southampton. I know it’s a different entity but hopefully the EPL wil have taken note of that

I did read something a little while ago though about how part of the ownership structure allegedly said if city were harshly punished, they'd stop their investments in the UK. IF that part is true, the FA, EFL etc might not even have a say in this.

If the PFA had any backbone they would instruct their members to refuse to play against Man City. Bring the PL to a shuddering halt and see what sponsors and TV execs think of that.

One of their biggest ( let's think about who the PM is too btw) 10 year property venture covering a £1 billion regeneration property project in Manchester "UAE officials have reportedly warned that treating the club unfairly could jeopardise future bilateral investment" The Mubadala Link: The UK-UAE Sovereign Investment Partnership (SIP) has directed over £30 billion into British infrastructure, clean energy, and tech. Crucially, the CEO of Mubadala (the fund driving this capital) is Khaldoon Al Mubarak—who also happens to be the Chairman of Manchester City The UK government is caught in an incredibly uncomfortable position. Whitehall documents have revealed that the Foreign Office and the UK Embassy in Abu Dhabi have held extensive private discussions regarding Manchester City's charges.

| More details on the Man City guilty verdict about to come on 19:47 - Sep 29 with 552 views | LegendofthePhoenix | I really think Man City are going to go bust if the guilty charges are upheld. It would mean every club disadvantaged and suffering financial losses over the 9 year period will be suing them for compensation. The calculation yesterday showed those losses at £2Bn. But even that doesn't include the reputational damage, loss of merch sales worldwide etc. And if they are expelled from the PL, as opposed to being merely relegated, then all those players on £110ks per week will not have their wages reduced by a relegation clause (if any exist). So those players would likely end up still being paid their PL basic wage with Citeh in the Football Conference. I can't see anyone funding that. Blue Moon You tried to win things too soon.... | |

so technically, town could also seek compensation for the 24 season? as although it's not within that 9 year period itself.. it can be said the man city wouldn't have been man city without that period...

Not much. We did finish 19th. Unless we’re going after Leicester as well. Nothing against that, by the way.

| Unfortunately.... on 17:33 - Sep 29 by Bloots | ....they've pretty much confirmed that they are gonna appeal the verdict, that's before they even get their punishment. So this is gonna go on for a while longer yet. Assuming they then get found guilty again, they will get given a punishment, then they will appeal that. We are in the tunnel, we can see the end of it, but we aren't near it yet. |
However, the appeal process is time-limited. A few months, I believe. They can't drag it on for years.

The high court process, which is in play, is outside the EPL control. It really could drag a while yet.

The losses were calculated by someone in this https://passmode.shop/asterisk I have no idea how accurate it is, but that's where the £2Bn losses comes from, and yes Frimmers there is £2M loss to ITFC presumably that the difference between finishing 18th and 19th. I think the appeal to the PL is limited to 12 weeks. But even the PL are subject to the law of the land, so if it doesn't end up how City want, presumably they will fight it in the High Court. Or, make a power play, and try to form a European Super League.

No, they folded. A new club was formed and the league voted to accelerate them into their bottom division, given the huge financial clout they were going to carry. So they avoided all the regional leagues that a club like Wimbledon had to do south of the border when also a start up.

And they have to have the harshest of punishments or there’s no deterrent to anyone else. They have to go to the Conference and have all their trophies for the time period in question taken off them and given to the relevant runners up. |
Yep, the thing is did the players who came in during the summer know how serious this was? How on earth do they offload this squad of players on crazy wages when/if they're relegated?

As Illy said they'll adopt the siege mentality and probably end up winning the league this season. Be really annoying if/when we finish second. |
Quick thought...haven't scoured down the thread. But what if the FA/EPL sanction the owner funding... ie the Abu Dhabi holding company. Namely hold them unfit to own ManC due to the financial malpractices? Step 1: Hold the Holding company to account Step 2: Fine the club 900m or equivalent to what they gained from Step 3: Bringing the game into disrepute, 100 point sanction or expulsion from the EPL The above kinda would do it for me and a reasonable outcome. Let me catch up with the group think below.
