| Definate Pen on Maeda 22:58 - Oct 10 with 1656 views | Cheltenham_Blue | He gets fouled outside the box, but doesn't go down and is then tripped inside the box separately. VAR have refused to look at it because they say the incident was outside the box, but for me, its two separate fouls, the 2nd is a clear Pen. | |

Did he signal? Didn't see him. But to be fair I was busy shouting at him.

Pretty sure it was on the screen and he made a signal tool. They check everything anyway.

Hard to see to if there true contact in the box unless it’s slowed down.

Yeah he held his ear as soon as it happened and waited a while to listen and then waved for a goal kick once he had been told. By the time it was put on the screen it had already been decided really. One of them I think if the ref gives it then it would stand, VAR afraid to overturn it. Which is wrong.

Certainly wasn't stumbling in the box, he'd taken a number of strides after the initial contact caused a slight stumble.

Watching it from the cobbold upper tier it did look like maeda was looking for contact to go down, not a pen for me at the time

| Definate Pen on Maeda on 08:03 - Oct 11 with 814 views | Blue_Uprising | My view of the replay was the contact outside the box was probably not enough to give a foul However standing on his foot in the box (albeit not necessarily intentional and pretty soft) was enough to stop Maeda being able to play the ball across (even if he was already stumbling). Feel for the home team at another ground ie old Trafford, emirates, anfield, at the very least, it gets referred for the ref to take a closer look at the replay. Thankfully it didn’t matter. | | | |

| Definate Pen on Maeda on 08:30 - Oct 11 with 658 views | BseaBlue | I make you right. Advantage was played and Maeda gets himself into a good position. He is off balance but clear contact which disrupts him further. I do get that not all 'contact' is a foul but in this situation, it interupted a potential goal scoring opportunity so pen all day to me. I'd wager that if that happened at Old Trafford, Anfield or the Emirates, it gets given and VAR wouldn't over turn it. | | | |
| Definate Pen on Maeda on 08:46 - Oct 11 with 582 views | RetroBlue | If there was no contact, why wadnt our player booked then? As for MOTD snd their habitual disrespect towards us as PL club , they can shove their poxy programme where the sun doesn't shine. | |

I think the only way var works is for teams to be given a set number of reviews and they judge when to use it. The judgement of refs and the var teams is too open to bias. Might result in the same outcome. People will say because the ref/var didn’t give it the decision would be the same under this model. But I’m not so sure that holds true. I think this model would at least get the ref to have to look again on monitor - and who knows maybe he would not agree with the person in the var office on some far flung trading estate. In fact the var person does not need to be involved in the decision making or give any judgement at all under a review system. They are just there to move the video forward and back.

It's exactly what happened there. He didn't give it, then immediately was listening to the VAR ref for validation, was really clear to see.

Their lack of comment on anything about us yesterday was remarkable to be honest.

That's a very good idea. I think they have introduced this in rugby league?

Two separate fouls, first of which he stayed upright and maintained control of the ball into the box while the second caused his moving leg to clip onto his standing leg and lose balance. Would only be the same foul if he had stumbled without having the ball under control after the first touch so taking that foul from outside the box into it. Was poor refereeing and showed what VAR is ineffective in its current guise.
