| So the ‘visitor’ to our FOOTBALL club claims Russia didn’t interfere…. 00:16 - Oct 13 with 5372 views | unstableblue | … In Brexit. And that Burnham is lying. When it’s proven they did. What impact their social media influence - on scale - caused to the Leave vote is of course open to interpretation. BUT - what is now emerging is that Ukraine have now bombed Russian server farms. And the level of Trump promoting accounts have significantly diminished. It’s almost like our biggest security threat - Putin - is pro Trump/Reform. It’s almost like Reform are bad for the UK?! Letting that dangerous idiot into our club to use our brand remains a stain. [Post edited 13 Oct 12:07]

That they tried to interfere but were unsuccessful. Also that he always respected that result. Of course he told the voters of Makerfield that when trying to be elected in a strong Leave constituency. Which is why he is now cosying back up to the EU. You could not make it up. And this bloke is in charge. It is very worrying that he is also dealing with Trump and Putin. [Post edited 13 Oct 2:58]

Brexit was bad for the UK at the time... and has now been demonstrably proven bad for it. People want the government to improve the economy - the economy was better when we were in the EU. Of course he should be "cosying back up to the EU". Would you rather have a worse economy than admit you were wrong?

As PM, he should be doing whatever is best for the country (within reason) and that is clearly creating stronger ties with the EU. Why don't you give us some reasons as to why "cosying back up to the EU" is bad on the current world climate? They current polling shows you're in the minority in that view. SB

There’s also a lot of stuff about how their social media numbers have dropped off a cliff since that bot farm got hit by Ukraine this week. The curtain is being pulled back but it doesn’t make huge amounts of difference it seems. Farage is a traitor it seems and open to doing anything to make money at our expense and the idiots who love him cheer it on. I guess because he tells them it’s not their fault they’re stupid, racist and failures it’s someone else’s fault etc. The fact he constantly has to find enemies to “fight” and is full of double standards never seems to be an issue either.

Andy will say what he wants, to who he wants for pure political expediency. His 'everyday man' persona is going to come under serious threat from the Manchester City scandal, particularly given Labour's stance on foreign influence. But while that is embarrassing for him, it's the budget in 2 weeks time that is really going to be defining. It's going to be a very tough winter with high fuel costs, pressures on cost of living and higher costs of borrowing. I was thinking yesterday about the 50 year economic cycle. 1870s Agricultural Depression, 1930s Great Depression, 1980s deep recession. I wonder whether debt, demographics or foreign tensions will be the cause.

The right wing media seem determined to spin and smear everything he has done there, some are already celebrating his downfall. It’s telling that they don’t want their readers to know or understand what his job was as mayor of Manchester or the pros and cons of devolution, just parrot back this sort of thing. The fact people have decided he’s bent already says a lot.

What is this great record as mayor of Manchester? and how does that play out in national or international policy? Even beyond the Abu Dhabi scandal: Homelessness increased Clean air zone U turn GMP being placed under special measures. What were the triumphs? Buses? Some fiscal devolution? Whether devolution has helped Scotland or Wales over the last generation is debatable, but I would argue neutral at best. Having more low rate, local politicians hasn't moved the dial. Who knew? The issue now is that we have one of them as PM.
