I agree tbh, power gets you so far but if you are have no guard and offer up your chin and head for shots the more technical boxer (especially at this weight) is going to win.

If I'm honest, I think it was more that the first fight took years off him. Just like most of the experts said it would. He had to take the rematch with a puncher's chance of another world title. He needs a good 9 months off this time to consider his options. I wouldn't be gobsmacked to see him retire - what more in the game does he have to prove? Can he return to a world title shot?

Daniel was in the zone there but not sure how ready Fabio was to be in there so soon after that brutal fight in May. And does he belong at this level. Nothing but respect for him, a god guy, but going to be tough for him to come back from this.

What is he now? 31? He's on the back end of a short career. It's not worth the risk, he's made enough money.

Came back much too quick as well, needs to take a long time off for recovery this time, he was still showing the physical signs of last time. Almost looked like PTSD when it started. No doubt about his heart but needs to step back, take stock, heal and learn some lessons. I hope he can up his game technically and come back a much more rounded fighter.

Yes, he got hit flush on the chin by the world heavyweight champion with the first combination of the night.

Fab has made significant money and weight in a game which he joined from white collar. His story would be better to end now with his health and acceptance that he thought a good fight, had some epic nights and has elevated his life to something that many could only dream of. Last night I was worried for his existence within 15 seconds. And within the 4 minutes that followed it was like he was being fed to a meat grinder. He has a young family, a lot of cash and many years to forge the next steps of a career, there's no shame in getting out to protect that, especially when he's achieved one of the biggest prizes already.

This. I said to a friend after the weigh in that he didn’t look up for it and it seemed like it was maybe one last payday before retirement. He’s done something utterly utterly incredible and the chances of him ever getting another shot at a world title are really slim and would take years of commitment and a whole load of knocks to the head. I think he needs to retire now and keep his health intact

Yep. If you’re looking at his career as a neutral he’s a modern day Rocky essentially. Has no right achieving what he has and can walk away with pride and a great story. If he can get into media, promoting and the other stuff he’ll have a great life ahead of him.
