Obviously shows a lack of ambition or confidence. If he would rather ply his trade in a league he is comfortable in rather than test himself in a team fighting for promotion to the Championship then I don't want him.

'If', as people on here have suggested, he has had mental health issues in the past (I have no idea whether this is true), maybe he just feels more comfortable working for a manager who knows him already, and is aware of any such issues. If that is the case then good luck to him.
If he prefers real Cornish pasties to Portman Pies, then that is also fair enough.

M6-M5 (and A38) is anything but straightforward. Tremendously busy nowadays, with extensive ongoing roadworks. Plus a very long way - Ipswich is about 60 miles closer to Bury, Lancashire, by road than Plymouth is.
As regards your second paragraph, entirely agree. He's a League Two winger. We already have one of those on the books in Danny Rowe (who was also with a promotion winning side). |  |
