At least we get the entire country tested in a week...

So a national testing programme that costs £1,500 per person? Sounds reasonable ...

What exactly do Deloitte, Serco, G4S etc. have on the government?

So his next promise is based on tech that doesn't even exist yet and which will cost £100bn that the government doesn't have. It's pie in the sky stuff.

Johnson does seem tediously predictable in situations like this

He always wants to be the star of the huge gesture.....something Earth shattering, never been done before

His time might be better spent getting the current Test and Track to work better

Fantasy based escapism. When under pressure they always seem to divert attention to the next unachievable fantasy to distract from their numerous current failings.

This is genuinely like a Caveman saying 'don't worry about how we roll out creating fire because we will be landing on the moon in 6 months time'.

So predictable.

Test, Track and Trace was always going to be a disaster given they decided to outsource it

What is going on with it, is it any where near to working yet? There doesn't seem to have been any government incentive to encourage people to use it in the slightest

The fact it would help create digital lockdowns and reduce the need to shutdown whole cities or the country in full, is going to come back to bite us before too long

Exactly

And the same tendency to tell everyone, including himself, just how marvellous he is....

Seeking the grown-ups approval, just like when he was potty-training

We need an App that works, let the big Tech boys get on with it rather than us trying to create our own.

T&T is a joke - it is 2020 and we are relying on a call centre approach and the general public to pass over contact details - a total joke.

I'd rate our democracy and politicians on a par with the US now, even including Trump and the gun-totin', Jesus-lovin' Republicans.

But arguably even lower given we have nothing like the decentralized state and local engagement across the UK.

It's gone so well that Norfolk County Council have opted to take Track and Trace in-house.

https://www.greatyarmouthmercury.co.uk/news/norfolk-county-council-recruits-cont

That's Norfolk County Council. A local council where 54 of the 84 seats are held by the Conservative Party. Probably one of the most-Tory county councils in England.

It’s another of his ‘I make buses out of cardboard boxes’ moments. It’s a distraction from the car crash going on elsewhere.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

Yeah, there is that too.

But the suggested costs still look more like extortion.

Or just have enough tests available now for those who need it.

I've been refreshing the website all day trying to book a test*, hoping it's just a cold but with a temp over 38 thought best to do the right thing. Unfortunately doing the right thing could well involve self isolating (and being off work) for two weeks unnecessarily if I can't get a test.

* to be fair on one of the refreshes it did show an available test site - on the Isle of Skye!

Diseconomies of scale innit

Deloitte are especially close to the Tories apparently. Old article here, but sounds like it's still going on - https://www.thebureauinvestigates.com/stories/2012-07-10/how-big-four-get-inside

only is there a distinct lack of tests, but a more noticeable lack of the cretins were full of praise for Johnson last winter

Any post that pointed out that he was a lazy, lying and incompetent fraud was met with howls of anguish from the gormless.

And the real concern now is that his ability to f*** things up on an industrial scale is not going to go away.

Coronavirus is a global problem, though most other countries are doing better than the UK.

Brexit is a self inflicted [problem caused by the sheer stupidity of a small percentage of the population,

Both are only set to get worse as the country becomes a failing shambles .... a true reflection of this gutless windbag
