Drinan out for 2 months on 08:42 - Sep 18 with 4210 views | LankHenners | I guess it’s just one of those things, but we really seem to be cursed when it comes to a player getting a seemingly innocuous knock which ends up putting them out for at least several weeks, which of course gets extended when we near the supposed return date.

I think we're beyond the point of bad luck, this is something that really needs to be looked at.

It's not bad luck, it's criminal under-investment in one of the most important aspects of the modern game. When the game is played at such greater intensity than yesteryear, sports science is not something that can be an after-thought, it's woefully short-sighted by ME.

Yeah it’s hard to know how much is down to what considering I’m not sure how other clubs fare on this but it certainly seems like we never get an injury that only requires a couple of games out. Although, tbf, even Hurst knew straight away the recovery/sports science stuff wasn’t up to scratch and I don’t think it’s an accident that players with bad/indifferent injury records suddenly keep fit once they leave. I think we’ve all seen the Lee Johnson quote on Adam Webster by now as well.

It does make me laugh when supporters start pointing fingers at the club for injuries during matches. What exactly do you think other clubs have connected to their players thighs during a game?

Well for one thing they might have mismanaged a player's workload.

Drinan out for 2 months on 08:51 - Sep 18 with 4105 views | Parmigiano | This is a huge blow. In just a few games this season he's already shown he's the best striker we've had in that middle front-man of a 4-3-3 for several years. I really thought he could be our Firmino this season. Lots of pressure on Norwood now. He will need to work on playing with his back to goal, holding up the ball and bringing the two wide-men or midfield runners into play. Let's hope Drinan's injury is only 2 months (around 10 matches) although our medical team usually under-predict these things.

Eh? I'm talking about the conditioning of our players. It's diabolical. Hurst was aghast at how bad things were on the sports science front - he had it better at Shrewsbury, which was why he was forced to bring in his Head of Sports Science, who ironically is now at Sheff Utd.

How do you know this? Have you been inside the training ground and seen the set up? Met the physio team? No-one ever mentions the successes. Sears/Lankester back after terrible injuries, some players never recover from such injuries.

Drinan out for 2 months on 09:05 - Sep 18 with 3936 views | patrickswell | Par for the course. Like that young player do you? Looks like he could do a good job for you, doesn’t he. “Well, you get two games out of him. Don’t complain, you only got one out of Ndaba and eh..don’t get your hopes up about seeing KVY or Lankester anytime soon either. We’re taking a vote on what’ll happen to Dobra, but it doesn’t look good...”

Explain McGoldrick ? Always injured , moves to United and never misses a game

IT also makes me laugh when fans refuse to see there is clearly a lack of investment in our sports science and rehabilitation set-up. Oh yes, ME did invest a couple of grand in a shed, some deckchairs and hot tub.

Players get injuries, it happens at every club. Ipswich have had some horrible luck and it could be slightly imprived with investment but there has been investment and we are a division 3 side. The problem of injuries doesn't go away no matter how much you throw at it

I said the same thing on here about 3 years ago and got absolutely slaughtered. There’s no way it’s a coincidence that we just miraculously get so many players come back from injury and then have a ‘setback’

What on earth are you on about man? Everyone knows our sports science department is inept. And to use Sears and Lankester as examples of recovery is truly laughable. With a proper sports science department, I highly doubt that Lankester would have experienced such issues with his back, it would have been picked up far sooner.
Drinan out for 2 months on 09:25 - Sep 18 with 3693 views | Chrisd | He's made such a good impact in the side and offers something different to Norwood, bitterly disappointed for him. It's just laughable how many injuries we have. Yes, appreciate it's part and parcel of the game and all clubs get them, but we seem to get more than our fair share season on season.
