I like Jack Leach, seems a great guy and decent bowler on his day but this could be some test team if we had a truly top class spinner in it. Leach does tend to blow hot and cold a bit.
Hopefully he'll get more consistency with experience. |  |

to be fair - it is virtually impossible to bat on...
its completely random if it turns big or runs on... you can't protect both edges...
the commentators were saying how the right thing to do was play for the straight one... then Sundar gets done by one that pitches middle and hits off, from Joe Root. [Post edited 25 Feb 2021 10:04]

Is there any point in preparing pitches like this for tests? It's going to be a 3 day test at this rate (maybe even 2 if England can't handle the spin again).
It's not really test cricket when it's so much in favour of the bowlers.
I am of course assuming the pitches were prepared this way, I've not read up on it or checked.

As I posted below, the pitch (as Herb noted) is poor, that's not in question. But there has been some shocking shot selection. Some of that must be to do with the pitch being in the batsmen's mind.
A pitch like this is as bad as a complete flat track for the batsmen. | |
