Was originally writing this in another thread - the flouncing one - but separated it, as I didn't want it being perceived as having a negative angle, as that really isn't my agenda. I'm just interested in your thoughts on the following...

I know you supported MM pretty loyally when he was manager. When did you change from let's see how he does to this guy has my backing.

We were obviously in the relegation zone when he joined and he got the team ticking then. So was it pretty much straight away. Or when he started clearing out non-committed players in the summer? Or later?

In addition to that, did MM automatically get more leeway as he as in the division above? We evidently lost and drew to teams of a lower standing when he was in charge, but I don't remember you having a going at him, as he had evidently proven something to you. Is this my selective memory? Or was there a reason for this?

What does PC have to do before you would view him in the same way you view MM?

Is one of the differences the way you view this league? The way I see it is we had a load of players that had
1. Got us relegated
2. Finished mid-table two years in a row.

As much as I would like them to be good enough and think most proved themselves to be substandard for our aim of promotion. Players like Chambers were obviously better when younger, they were no longer up to the challenge of promotion (and you know I said he was POTY last season, so that isn't a dig at him).

With PC, I see him clearing out players that weren't good enough. We still need work in the CB position. but from what I can see player-wise, I think he has brought in a group that any manager would be keen on working with and for me that is the progress I'd like to see by game one.

What target are you setting PC? And how long are you giving him for this?

Personally I would be unhappy if we're weren't Top 6 by Christmas and within touching distance of the Top 2.

I don't really remember how I was at the start of Mick but I wouldn't have been a day 1 fan boy. The big difference is MM didn't join with same crazy hype levels he was probably seen as too boring for that.

The mad hype started with the messiah Hurst and I remember sitting here thinking hold on we weren't that good and we didn't get a result either. This went up a new level under PRP and we happy clapped him to relegation and a bumper contract. I took dogs abuse for pointing out we were kidding ourselves.

As a fan base we shouldn't make out things are the best ever when they are. We have to keep the gaffer accountable and set expectation levels. Cook would have been embarrassed by last season and however you dress it up a draw at home to Morecambe is poor.

The funny thing is the same people that now accuse me of being negative for calling it as it is are the same ones that told me I was a happy clapper for being realistic under mick.

One day I'll call it wrong but I haven't yet. Those that calll me names and abuse have got multiple wrong. Managers should earn hero worship from fans, as a fanbase we have elevated recent managers above that at the detriment of the team

I appreciate this post was for Bluefish, who has earned his moment in the sun as far as I'm concerned, by taking horrible abuse for having different, legitimate, opinions.

But one point I would just pick up on re Mick: you say he lost to teams of a lower standing. I'm not sure what 'standing' means in that context. His record overall, consistently, was that he overachieved vis a vis the budget we had in the division we were in. I would not cut a manager slack purely based on what division we were in. I would cut them slack if we had a small budget for that division. Mick achieved great things in terms of results, and then achieved slightly more average things.

Clearly the Gamechanger lot have the capacity to be a gamechanger for the Club, but before they came along, we had a fairly small budget in the Champ. By contrast, our league one managers have had large budgets for the division. That includes Cook last season by the way, but of course there were circumstances that mitigate his undoubtedly terrible record last year.

Personally, I think you’re a pair of nobs but I do find it amusing when one nob has the other on ‘ignore’ but still covets the other nob in the fabled ‘logged out’ mode.

No winners here, but sh*ts n giggles for the adults.

I think you are right re the hype - it's like rather than a manager starting out without a rating out of 10 when they come in, they come in as a 9/10 and anyone who is on the fence is seen as a traitor.

Even if you can see what they are trying to do, that isn't enough - but think key thing is I'm sure Cook as a manager here would say he hasn't done a good job so far, that he has to earn the right to be praised.

I think that's a really good analogy. It doesn't matter who it's been recently; Hurst, Lambert or Cook - to some they're instantly a 9/10 and require months of evidence until they'll re-evaluate.

Some like Makin just double down but apparently he does that with everything he posts looking at todays example
