That's not the narrative some have been using, ball playing centre half was the narrative. SB

100% this, but we do miss Woolies work on the ball

We do. But set pieces and Stockton are awkward

He's been a ball playing defender all his career. Woolfenden's been fine handling the 'main men' so far as well. McKenna just keeping his options fresh but sounds like in this case it's not played out too well.

Exactly this. He spent years at Derby as a ball playing defender. He's just having a poor game, both with and without the ball.

Yes, he's certainly upped his game. At the end of the day, it's good that we have four/five very good central defenders. [Post edited 8 Oct 2022 16:51]

Keogh has been really poor hasn't he? on 16:50 - Oct 8 with 4648 views | Whos_blue | The commentary just said he's played 470+ championship games and capped 20 odd times. I'm not there, so can't comment on his performance today, but possibly a little harsh to call him sh1t.

Yeah, I've not said he is crap, as he clearly isn't, but he had a pretty poor game imo. He'll be fine for us over the season .

Keogh has been really poor hasn't he? on 17:05 - Oct 8 with 4368 views | catch74 | Reminded me of Burgess v Colchester in the cup, slowed things down. Woolf tends to bring the ball out, change angles whilst he’s thinking on the ball . Like Burgess, Keogh was rusty though. Showed his value v Stockton in the 2nd half.

Got better as the game went on, especially in the last 5 mins when they put a few balls in our box. Don't underestimate the difficulty in coming into a very settled defence and bossing it. You could see that he and edmundson were communicating really well late on.

I think he was referring to Bazza's comment. Slow and ponderous first half, getting caught a few times, one of which led to their goal. But did win some very good headers and was better second half.
| Trust the process. Trust Phil. |

Keogh has been really poor hasn't he? on 17:08 - Oct 8 with 4306 views | DeepBlueSea | Woolfenden got a rest, and we got 3 points. And hopefully Keogh benefited from a competitive 90 minutes. But so far he doesn't look as good as our other centre backs
Keogh has been really poor hasn't he? on 17:16 - Oct 8 with 4160 views | ArnieM | It probably seemed a good game to get h8m a competitive league game under his belt, he hasn’t played in months. We need all these players to get games, much improved second half, and I’m really pleased George got a goal from a corner for us. Excellent. Keep it up 👠

It’s a good game to give him an outing. He’s not going to be match fit straight away but no doubt Woolfy will be back at weekend.

And now he’s 36.. and could have cost us, the second goal Which was off side, he lost the ball and then never even chased after it.. just bimbled back towards goal.. he did improve through the second half, but he was terrible first half, just because we got the win, it doesn’t change that.

Almost as if finding his feet after playing hardly any football was going to take a little while. 45 mins to jelly isn’t the worst really, is it? He’s a decent option in the squad. Needs to play more to get up to speed, but you’d be mad to normally pick him ahead of Woolf.

He's barely played a game though. In the end we were able to give him a run out in a game where we got three points away from home. Match fitness is very important but maybe this highlights the work Woolfenden and Edmundson do with the ball. I suspect Woolfenden will return for Lincoln, and Keogh will start at Cambridge on the 18th.

Yep. And we’re rotating the front line more than one of those rotary dryers, but the defence hasn’t been getting much rest. We need to bring Keogh into contention for a starting spot so he can slot in seamlessly when we have injuries, bans or just need to mix it up. So in the end today worked out just fine (even if it was a bit of a risk). McK seems to be getting most calls right so far, so no reason not to trust his judgement.
