Call me negative but England did seem to give the ball away a bit and a better team would take advantage of that.
Definitely have struggled against these sorts of teams in the past but I'm not sure you can read too much into that.

I really didn't get the hype at half time from those in the studio - thought we were pretty sloppy and wobbly at the back .Really like Tripper as a player but the times he gave it away today ,Slab Head is too slow as well

Be interesting to see how they get on against Wales and USA, I dare say neither will score 6 goals but we'll see. I saw about an hour of it and thought England blew them away, really brave on the ball, serious quality and pace going forward. Very good performance. |  |

Proper teams will always carry a goal threat, that's why they're ranked highly, conceding a couple in this game has no bearing on future games at all. | | | |

I don’t think anyone is getting carried away. As for Iran’s two goals, the first was a brilliant finish with their first attempt when the game was over and the second was not a penalty in my view.
Were Iran rubbish? They weren’t the best but England got the job done with ease. There were some excellent performances too, particularly Bellingham and Saka. Plenty to improve upon but the main thing in the first group game is grabbing the points. It’s no more than that. |  | | |

Your right 2nd was never a pen, if it was there will almost certainly be more pre game and makes the one on Maguire a stonewall pen. We weren't great but then tactically I think we were set up differently to how we would be against other opposition so hard to judge.
Such an English trait to moan. We put 6 past a team that haven't conceded many, just maybe they looked a 'pub' team because Eng were actually on it, it's oK to praise Eng you know for a performance. Given how tough Argentina and Denmark just found it maybe that highlights the professional job Eng really did (and no not getting carried away saying we will win it) | | | |
