Feel really sorry for Plymouth. Not convinced we can get him but fantastic if we do. Don't get this whole going on Twitter and gloating over him leaving/coming to us.

Plymouth are a really likeable club. Really hope they come up (hopefully 2nd with us too of course!!). Feel bad for them but that is the chance you take in the loan market.

Don't feel bad for them but agree with your sentiments otherwise. They're a likable club! I also don't think we'll be able to attract him but what a signing he'd be to any league one club. Destination Championship football I suspect.

Knowing all things Town, he's being "recalled" to be sold to Argyle.

Thought that might have been the case, pressure being put on Argyle etc, but from their comments it appears a deal can't be done. At the moment anyway.

Haha would actually be hilarious but highly annoying. Ultimate bantz from Plymouth.

Certainly didn't sound like a club who feel they can get him back. And realistically we can pay a lot more (I don't even think Whittaker would sign for significantly lower salary.

I think he will go to a champ team. It will be very interesting if Swansea force him on their manager. Could see the manager pushing for the Norwich job to be honest.

Or he gets sold to a club at a higher level - who then loan him back to Plymouth for the rest of the season!

I concur 100%. Come on young uns please be nice to other clubs. We are a well supported club, we do travel well and we do have some decent players. Therefore be nice to other teams. Who cares if they bring 50 to Portman Road, who cares is they get 5k in a run down backwards ground. You can bet your bottom dollar that they love their team as much as we love the blues.

There is enough teams/managers/referees who want us to fail, we don't need more enemies. Be nice and accept the nice back.

You’re 100% right but unfortunately you can’t polish a turd. Twitter is great for informative quick information but it’s also very very toxic. I limit my time on there now to avoid being drawn in.

There's time for sentiment at the end of the season, but right now, they are where we desperately want to be, and anything that stops them staying there is good for us.

Very likeable considering the alternative is Sheffield Wednesday!

They'd all laugh at me if they knew what I was trying to do. To create a new strain of super-wine in half-an-hour with a fraction of nature's resources and a FOOL for an assistant. 'Bernard Black, he's mad,' they'd say, 'he's insane, he's dangerous.' Well I'll show them! I'll show them all!

Think Plymouth have done amazing this season, considering their budget. Albeit they are probably a good year ahead of us with their project. The L1 experience of their management/coaching team has probably nicked them a few wins from draws.
They could end up a victim of their own success.. I'm sure Shumacher will have some admirers from afar.
If they lose one or two players in the window and struggle to replace them with the same quality, yet , still maintain their relentless form. You just have to take your hat off to their coaching/man management set up..
Still want to hammer them at PR in a fortnight, though...

I know twitter is a bit of a cesspit in and of itself, but football twitter should be banished to a special place in hell. The constant trolling and unwarranted gloating is on the very mild end on things, but anytime something football related is trending, you can be sure that the debate is moronic and repetitive. Football twitter actually makes love island twitter look like the Oxford Union by comparison.

Why would Swansea want to sell a decent player who is doing incredibly well to a rival champ club? Surely we can match what a champ club can pay in fees if it’s going to make a big difference..

I’m not sure he’d want to come here anyway - and you never want a player who doesn’t want to be here.

Would prefer Scott Twine over him anyway if truth be told.

They’re skint (or to put it more accurately, they have to be self-sustaining). Given the way finances work in the Championship that means they have to develop players and sell for a profit. They’re a bit like we were under Evans’ austerity at the end, but don’t have ready access to funds to cover debts each year.

I’d say another likely option is they need him for the squad (edit - although reading Phil’s report suggests that’s not the thinking). They’re short on numbers. Their 2nd striker has had a strop and now isn’t in the match day squad. Plus they’ve 2 development products in the number 10 roles, as their more senior no 10 (Patterson) is bang out of form. They’re down to bare bones. Either they’ll be trying to move on Obafemi and/or Patterson and may want Whittaker as a replacement or a deal to sell Whittaker is already done/close. Could easily be either. They’d happily sell him to a rival, as they’ve done so with other players.

There are also question marks over whether he’s ready. Plymouth suits him, but he went out on loan because he was struggling to make an impact in the Championship. He’s only young, but it was about 4 years ago when he broke into Derby’s(?) team. He didn’t push on as expected though.

Thought their manager was saying that he had more than enough cover in that area though and he wasn’t bothered either way about him being recalled. Who knows - smoke and mirrors on all sides I’m sure. Oh well at least it’s not dull!

Have to agree we don't want to or need to make enemies with clubs like Plymouth. Been to 88 of the professional clubs in the leagues and their are some toxic clubs with toxic fan bases and taxic owners, but Plymouth aren't one of them. But if it benefits us to use any relative financial clout we might have, then that's part of the game. Nothing personal.

Never fall in love with a loan player......

It's a horrible business - and the sooner fans begin to accept there is no such thing as a full season loan at this level the easier it becomes.

We got screwed by Brighton last year over Walton, and screwed by QPR over Bonne - we also screwed Swindon over Simpson so not trying to claim moral high ground in any way - it's business.

If you rely on the loan system this is the issue, and it is incredibly difficult to get your recruitment spot on in every window, as Oxford and especially MK Dons are finding out this season.

I've got nothing against Plymouth, and not going to buy into some faux rivalry with them - but am I happy Morgan Whittaker is no longer there? Absolutely. Would I be happy if we signed him? Absolutely. Is that 'fair' if it happens? Absolutely.

No one in this scenario will have done anything wrong, int he same way if they sign Harvey Knibbs from Cambridge they won't have done anything wrong.
