He lives in and around the same area as me in Sheffield and have had the misfortune of drinking in the same establishments twice over the past two weeks.

I’d suggest the writing was on the wall and looking back now I think he was even then , two weeks ago , trying to drink to forget

Think it's good news for us. Things are more uncertain for them now and every chance the new manager comes in and struggles. If they don't start well the pressure will be on with the end of parachute payments in sight.

Dunno. I think they got 90 points in spite of Wilder rather than because of him. Hopefully they lose Hamer and Souza but any half competent manager is going to have them very competitive.

Harsh is to put it mildly! If we get to the state of saying that those who come down should expect to go back up then we really do have a closed shop in the Prem don' we. No team has a divine right to go back up; I hope we don;t fall into that trap - though I do smile wryly at some of things I read on here at times. We've just spent 20 years wallowing in mid table mediocrity in whatever league we've been in and all of a sudden some think we have a divine right to go back up. If we (or Sheff U or any other team) go up it will be the same as before - hard work, decent management, and probably a decent chunk of investment

I've not been in many press conferences with him but he came across as fantastically miserable when they beat us 1-0 at Bramall Lane a few years back.

He’s not a good pundit but he’s been a regular on 5live in between jobs previously.

You’re probably right and a bit of radio work keeps him in the shop window.

Did they under-achieve really? They were one of 4 clubs with parachute payments and they finished 3rd 14 points ahead of 4th (thats with the points deduction taken off too).

It’s hardly good news for us if they’re sacking a weak manager. They’ll be a bigger threat with a better manager.
