One of the few bright lights at that time. Terrific player. A pleasure to watch.

What a shame he played for the club at the time he did when mediocrity and a cheap tin of paint for the turnstiles was the objective.

Is it really a surprise that his fitness is light years better these days?

No. Lack of travel time must be a considerable factor in his continued fitness levels. Plus, the sports science as well as the medical facilities were poor under ME.

Anything to do with not too keen on playing in Mick's set up ?

Think it's well documented that him travelling in from the north consistently contributed to his issues here. No surprise since he has left he has only played for northern based clubs and been fine.

It's well documented that the amount of travelling he did was greatly exaggerated. Think he's just been very carefully managed since leaving us where he possibly played too much or at the 'wrong' times plus our set-up off the pitch at the time left a lot to be desired which didn't help anyone who was having injury troubles.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Our sports science at that time consisted of a 1950s bucket and old sponge, didn’t it?

I think the travel excuse was just that. If it was a factor, there were ways round it.

Prob more to do with our fitness/medical team consisting of about two men, some rolling pins, a shed, a B&Q Jacuzzi and a couple of reclinable deck chairs.

Indeed, he was put back in too quickly and played too often when he was here unfortunately. Not sure the medical people at the club are those to blame though.

Although one of his injuries was having his bawbag reattached after it was removed by someone's studs on a midweek fixture.

He drove himself to hospital ..... that would surely be a "Duty of Care" issue. Surely one of the Medical Team could have given him a lift.

No wonder he felt underappreciated by the club

So if not the medical people then who was making the decision on his return to the team and match time?

Think it was Cardiff’s Glen Loovens…. Useless Stroud didn’t even give a booking, when it was as a clear a red as you’ll ever see.

I don't think this one is the complex puzzle you're making it out to be...

Manager rushing players back shocker, I rated Mick a lot but he was hardly the most engaged with modern ways.

MKD Dec 2015 is an example of this.
Came on as a sub and was clearly unfit.

But when he was got he was excellent for us.

McG was one of, and for money THE, best players of the 20-teens for us.

When he played, he was a hundred times better than anyone else…. And when he was absent, we missed him so much it was embarrassing.

He lived in Ipswich.
