General election voting 13:21 - Mar 2 with 4735 views | homer_123 | Over the years, I've voted for three different parties at general elections. I've never been one to 'vote X' regardless. Whilst this forum isn't a representative sample of the UK - is there anyone on here who will only ever vote for 'one party'? By the by, due to where I live, my votes are utterly wasted.

General election voting on 13:34 - Mar 2 with 3064 views | SuperKieranMcKenna | My vote is also wasted, and slightly ashamed to say on occasions I’ve not voted at all. My constituency elects the conservatives relentlessly, with %shares of the votes that Putin would be envious of.
General election voting on 13:41 - Mar 2 with 3042 views | SaleAway | Yeah, my vote has moved around over the years. I currently live in a staunch labour constituency though, so it doesn't really matter what I do.

General election voting on 13:43 - Mar 2 with 3036 views | DJR | I've only every voted Labour at general elections, and bar voting for the Ecology Party in 1979 because there didn't seem to be a Labour candidate, I've also only ever voted for them at local elections. There's no reason at present to think I will do anything else in future, but my vote where I live is wasted, as they weigh the Tory vote.
General election voting on 13:44 - Mar 2 with 3028 views | ElderGrizzly | For the first time in my lifetime, it feels as though our vote won't be wasted in East Cambridgeshire which has been entirely blue for what seem like forever. Lucy Frazer should be beaten if the Lib Dem/Labour vote doesn't cannibalise itself
General election voting on 13:50 - Mar 2 with 3006 views | Churchman | Exactly the same with me. My vote is also a waste, given I live within Sevenoaks constituency. A bin bag of used cat litter with a blue rosette would get elected here. Its why I believe in the principle of proportional representation.
General election voting on 14:11 - Mar 2 with 2954 views | WeirdFishes | Only ever voted Labour in a GE but it's always been a wasted vote. I think I've voted Lib Dem or Green in a local election. If PR was ever brought in I think I'd be more happy to vote for genuinely what I felt the best manifesto was rather than just who is most likely to beat the Tories.

General election voting on 14:44 - Mar 2 with 2853 views | Clapham_Junction | Only voted Labour at general elections, but have voted Green in locals. In the most recent Tower Hamlets mayoral election, I gave the independent candidate my first preference and grudgingly gave my second to the Labour candidate to try and stop Lutfur Rahman winning. If there was GE tomorrow, I would vote for the Greens, or (if they didn't put anyone up) spoil my ballot paper. I live in a safe seat, so have the luxury of doing so. If I lived in a marginal, I would vote for whoever is most likely to beat the Conservative candidate.

A mate works for Tower Hamlets council and was saying that Rahman's actually brought in some good left wing policies, even if it does mean running the reserves down. Surprised me to hear it tbh.

Rahman does do some good things, there's no denying that. It's what happens beneath the surface that is a worry, and how he sometimes amasses votes in the first place. As a TH resident as well I have witnessed some of the shennanigans that occasionally goes on at voting times.

Rahman is a genuinely left-wing politician and is where I think Labour should be on many issues. However, he is corrupt, prevents the opposition from doing their job (his party spin out council meetings so they run out of time before the opposition questions item), clearly favours the Bengali community (all of his party's candidates were Bengali and he has just reinstated the community language service, which gives free language lessons to people whose parents have failed to pass on the language at home - a service entirely aimed at that community) and used Tory-esque populist appeals at the last election to get the anti-LTN cranks to vote for him. His party have also been lying about not putting up council tax (which they are) and I have heard he has just appointed a load of consultants to act as his mayoral office (he had a very large office staff last time he was in power). So, while his policies are closer to where I would like to see Labour, I could never bring myself to vote for him or his party. He has got quite lucky in that the outgoing Labour administration were far too timid in their budgeting and cut vital services unnecessarily, ending up building up the reserves significantly. He is now going to run them down very quickly, which is highly risky.
General election voting on 15:14 - Mar 2 with 2728 views | BlueNomad | I have always lived in Tory seats. As a result the only time I have been on the "winning side" was the 1975 Referendum......................

I’m in Hitchin, which has always been Tory & I have always voted Labour. This time, the Lib Dem’s have a decent chance to win, so I will be lending them my vote at the GE.

Has nothing from the last 12 hours, day, week, month, year, decade swayed your view. Would you vote conservative if you could at the next election?

General election voting on 16:46 - Mar 2 with 2496 views | SlippinJimmyJuan | Labour member but have only voted for them once at a GE - at the last election where it seemed they had a chance to swing my seat - spoiler: they didn't. When I lived in a safe Labour constitutency, I gave my vote to the Greens or fringe left wing parties. Local elections and things like the police and crime commissioner I tend not to think too much about party. I'll never vote Tory and further right (for obvious reasons) or Lib Dem (after their betrayal of students). Aside from that, I'm fluid.

General election voting on 18:06 - Mar 2 with 2359 views | Trequartista | I don't really understand the logic of people saying their vote is wasted. Unless the second-place candidate is within one vote of the winning candidate, which hasn't happened in a General Election for over 100 years, your individual vote will make no difference to the result anyway.

Is it the bigotry, the corruption, the criminality, the lying , the incompetence or the fact that you can say you vote for them in a pathetic attempt to look edgy that appeals most about them?

General election voting on 19:27 - Mar 2 with 2266 views | vilanovablue | I'm in straight fight between the Tories and Liberal parties so for the last 10 years I've only voted for the Liberal Party. The 2017 election is the only time I've voted for a winner. I'm 53 but have been in the SE all my life. Over the years I've voted for multiple different parties and independent candidates in local elections.
General election voting on 19:35 - Mar 2 with 2256 views | Swansea_Blue | ABT here. I voted for them once when I was young and naive, and then the MP ended up in prison! It’s fairly easy for me now as our constituency is a straight race between Labour and Tory; the labour MP, Tonia Antoniazzi, seems decent and the Tories keep putting up ghouls against her. So it’s a no brainer. I’ve probably voted Lib Dem more than anyone over the years though.
