One thing right, one thing wrong 09:05 - Apr 4 with 4530 views | bluelagos | Rommers' digging up an old post for an "I told you so..." got me thinking, when have you been absolutely spot on with and when have you done a Frimmers in public? The one I got right: Michael Clegg, 15 minutes into his debut (at Crewe?) I suggested he return to Old Trafford given his lack of footballing ability. He only played 3 games, not before costing us points that I think cost us promotion. Frimmers moment. Thought Roy Keane was just what we needed...

I was pleased by the appointments of Keane, Lambert and Cook. A hattrick of error.

With regards to Lambert, he was pretty bad. But I do have a tiny amount of sympathy for the position of having to take over from Hurst and Doig with an aging, mid league 1 squad with minimal financial input and a fanbase that had become apathetic. He was crap, but everything else was at the time too. [Post edited 4 Apr 2023 9:23]

In your defence, I suspect you'd never seen Lee Martin play at that point.

However, I backed that transfer window as being one of our most exciting and ambitious

Sadly, I had. Three times. Though he was a good winger and would tear Championship teams apart. Lasted about 6 weeks, before I started to backtrack. Edit: By 'backtrack' I mean, 'furiously start to peddle backwards' [Post edited 4 Apr 2023 9:28]

One thing right, one thing wrong on 09:52 - Apr 4 with 3033 views | TRUE_BLUE123 | I posted on here May 5th that we should sign Nathan Broadhead. I said Josh Harrop would be our player of the season when he signed in January that year

One thing right, one thing wrong on 10:03 - Apr 4 with 2941 views | DavoIPB | Thought Paul Cook was going to make it as manager of Ipswich. Was questioning McKenna and his team selections for a good but of this season. Was questioning recruitment and recruitment team. Have to say we have been soo good recently. Really enjoying watching Ipswich play.
One thing right, one thing wrong on 10:04 - Apr 4 with 2921 views | unstableblue | Where I was spot on: in 2015 stating that despite vying for the play-offs (eventually meeting Norwich in the play-offs) there was something basic and one dimensional about the football, and fans were already leaving PR feeling a little short changed despite great results, and against better coached sides we really had no chance of promotion. And that it would all end in tears and empty stands. It really did. Got it wrong - I thought Paul Cook was going to be the manager we had needed since Joe Royle/Magilton, and despite some rip roaring occasional displays (way at Wycombe), it turns out he was somewhat one dimensional himself, and had always needed a good assistant for success.

One thing right, one thing wrong on 10:30 - Apr 4 with 2815 views | clive_baker | The 'I told you so' was based on a nothing article about 2.5 years prior to the club actually being sold tbf. Anyhoo I also thought Keane was a good appointment. He had done pretty well at Sunderland in fairness, albeit by spending some cash. Knowing ME was prepared to get the cheque book I thought he would be a decent fit and would be able to attract players. He's a winner, I liked that and really thought he would get as mentally stronger and get us up. I was even more convinced after winning his first game at Cardiff 3-0, he had clearly got a reaction from the squad and I remember coming away thinking we can win the league next season. That optimism quickly faded after a dreadful start to the season. Too many right to list innit. I hated Hurst as an appointment and hated his recruitment. There were plenty saying fresh start, out with the old etc but that Summer of 2018 was a complete car crash. Losing Webster, McGoldrick, Garner, Waghorn, Celina and replacing them with Jackson, Nsiala, Nolan, Harrison etc. Absolutely ridiculous.

And now, at 32, he plays for the team who just finished second bottom of the Indian Super League.

😆 Not my best work. In my defence I think I ordered it about 10 minutes after we’d beaten West Ham 5-1, with him scoring two.

At the time it wasn't a bad shout. He had tons of ability and on his day was unplayable. Those days just didn't come around too often.

One thing right, one thing wrong on 15:13 - Apr 4 with 2103 views | Steve_M | Wrong: Sheepy was a financially savvy businessman who wouldn’t repeat the mistakes of the 80s in building new stands. Right: That Paul Hurst wasn’t going to work very early on, selling Webster cheaply was the first alarm bell, but the total collapse 20 minutes into the first game was clear evidence he was out of his depth. I was sceptical about Cook early on too but at least he had a track record at this level.
