So Saturday 4.55pm, just beaten Exeter, do we go on the pitch to celebrate? 10:05 - Apr 26 with 5176 viewsWarkystache

Dunno what the etiquette is - all I know is that going on the pitch in previous seasons has been frowned upon and ended up with bans for supporters?

If we all go on, what are they going to do, ban us all for next season?!

Perhaps it will be less frowned upon, given the pitch is going to be ripped up in the summer

Personally I would prefer a lap of honour from the players

General consensus from this seemed to be that many think it will happen even if the club will be against it and trying to avoid it happening. Also many who would rather everyone can f celebrate properly, not just those who go on the pitch. And Sitters will be first on the pitch to kick it off.

Pitch invasion or not… by Matt_Netherlands 24 Apr 2023 12:39
Regardless of whether it’s Saturday or the end of the play offs, I’m not sure I can see it happening at PR!

Security will be huge across the lower north and that area would be the main instigators. Plus, the tiers and one way systems won’t make it very feasible! Then the lower Britannia is mainly families who won’t be sprinting on, and largely the same with the lower south stand too.

I might be wrong mind you.

This was mentioned on the Blue Monday pod, Orient got away with it down to some planning as they knew they weren't going to stop it. Just so long as our fans don't do anything daft.

I don't think the appetite for it is generally pitch related. It's more the safety of the players, staff, fans etc and I imagine the preference would be to keep people in their seats so we can do a proper lap of honour that everyone in the ground can enjoy, regardless of where they're sitting.

It's certainly frowned upon, but from my experience in non-league there's very little that can be done about it. Normal procedure is that about 5 minutes before the end I put out an announcement reminding supporters that entering the pitch is against ground regulations, and get roundly booed for doing so. That covers us so in the event someone does get injured in the ensuing melee, we can turn round and say 'well we told you so'. The stewards then do the best they can to keep everything relatively calm but it's accepted that we aren't going to stop people in massive numbers. Don't quote me on this as Towen may have a completely different view.

Lone or small numbers of pitch invaders still get hoovered up and handed over to West Mercia's finest.

Although Keno's version has Penny Smith instead of Guthrum.

Someone posted previously that, at another ground, the warning went out that a pitch invasion would mean no lap of honour or trophy presentation (though no chance of the latter on Saturday). That was enough to keep fans off the pitch.

Same here, I think it will be a little bit tinpot for fan to do a pitch invasion for just getting back into the Championship.

Milling around on the pitch is one of life’s great joys. I hope my kids get to experience it. If that means in this day and age it needs more control, such as waiting for the players to leave first that’s fine by me. Any end of season presentations they’re thinking of can be done in the directors box.

Agreed, different if we won the Championship title but I would rather clap the lap of honour and enjoy the celebrations from my seat.

I assume that the club will be fined heavily if there is a pitch invasion., also a risk that the ground will be closed for the start of next season Another strong argument against it is to allow the players and coaching staff to do a lap of honour allowing all the fans to enjoy the celebrations.

“Any end of season presentations can be done in the directors box” - I’m sure the 7,000 people who sit in the Magnus stand won’t mind not being able to see it.

Lol, there is pitch invasions every single season for this thing and I have never once heard of a fine, let alone being punished with behind closed doors! Wrexham and Orient have already done it this season.

There’s a part of my lawn that’ll be forever Portman Road after the Bolton game.

There was a bit near the penalty spot at Churchmans end that had been carved a bit during the game. With the help of a heel, in my pocket and on to my garden it went. Does that make me a bad person?

Get down the front for the last 5 and leg it as soon as the full time whistle goes.

[Only do this if we get promoted of course]

Not to be a killjoy but... on 12:50 - Apr 26 with 1928 viewsblueasfook

It is a criminal offence to enter the pitch which could see both fans involved and the club punished, and it's something the Football League have tightened up in recent years after likes of invasions where a fan punched Jack Grealish for example.

West Ham got fined £100,000 in 2019 for a pitch invasion in their home game against Burnley.
