Injury must be bad? Not at the open day on Wednesday it seems.

Maybe he’s had surgery?

Having to play JD for an extended period doesn't overly concern me.

Certainly deserves his chance.

If HC has had surgery then doubt we’ll see him this side of the international break??

Weakens us going forward but not defensively wish I think janoi is the better of the 2 at present and Clarke better going forward.

McKenna said he hadn't responded to what they'd hoped would sort his achilles problem out and an injury in that area isn't something you want to be taking many risks with.

Not at the open day also means not in training so clearly getting a bit of extended time off to recover, hopefully it's not for too long.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

A lot of its and buts, however there is a chance it could be a blessing in disguise.

The first few weeks we see Janoi offer us a bit more solidity at the back, and Clarke comes into the team later in the season to give us a weapon teams weren’t prepared for.

But he really isn't at the level we need.. Clarke wasn't perfect last season, but the energy and dynamic running/passing were a big part of our improved fortunes after Christmas

And HC had a good understanding/ partnership with Burns.

Think he was suspended for Sunderland anyway. So probably was always going to be JD in that one?
I think Taylor will be getting more box to box, when he plays. So will possibly offer a bit more support in attack than Morsy. And fill the void a bit in terms of getting that extra body up there, that Clarke sometimes offers.
Although, doubt we'll boss games as much in Championship, compared to L1, especially away from home. So we might not be afforded the luxury of letting someone like Clarke up the pitch so much. JD will be fine, imo. If we are sitting back a bit more and playing on the counter.

FWIW I agree with all of your post, I also thought although not sure he would be suspended anyway .. I do feel the defence was (all of it) needing some strengthening regardless of how great it was last season.

Rather he wasn’t injured, but JD is really not much of a downgrade at all.

I remember people on here being baffled when we signed Clarke but within 5 minutes of his debut we saw what an upgrade he was and what a difference he made to how we play.

His debut was at the end of the game at Oxford. I don’t think anyone saw anything.

I won't be surprised if he's out for a while considering Dom Ball has been playing at right back in pre season (and looking pretty good there too). Ball looks like he's really looked after himself physically since his injury.
