If 20,000 fans pay just £100 then the problem is solved...

Right... what do teams sell season tickets and match tickets for again? I think it is astounding how he's just "self-snitched" about being an unfit owner. Im curious what the EFL will think about that.

Just does to show how lucky we are to have the owners we do. Understand both sides of what is going on at SW, but ultimately , the club is a shambles. If they hadn't have done so much gloating and boasting last season, then maybe I would have more sympathy.

'Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri has asked supporters who ‘call themselves owners’ to come up with £2m within the next few days to save the club'

What a petty little fecker

Christ alive.

What a shambles of a once proud club. LFW words called is a bin fire rolling down a hill, a danger to ourselves and others. Wednesday are on another level compared to that.

Regardless of footballing rivalries - feel for the Wednesday fans as he seems a complete moron.

Evans was many things, but compared to some it could still have been a lot worse.

He's basically saying "Be nice to me or I'm folding your club". It's like a toddler somehow got hold of the reins of a professional football club.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Chansiri really is a piece of work. This attempt to rinse football supporters of even more money with a threat like this is outrageous.

Football clubs are historic, precious entities. They form an important part of a community and for the people who run the professional game in this country to allow people like this (and many others) to own football clubs is beyond poor.

You're absolutely spot on. They are community assets (regardless of their size) and need to be owned and run as such. Thankfully, our owners seem to recognise the difference between a sporting franchise and a football club. It's a shame others, including administrators don't.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

Ah, the old 20,000 fans paying £100 one. Rings a bell that.

Hmmmm shortly after a rant where he said he’s not funding the club and more (because of protests against his ownership). Quite the coincidence….

What a petty and monumentally inept businessman. “Fit and proper”.

Yep, not much more to add. It's petty and hilariously (from our side of the fence) inept. Such a basket case.

Not sure if this Athletic article is paywalled or not but the 'fit and proper' test really doesn't look at whether you're competent at all. It mainly looks at whether you can legally own a business and if you have enough money to run the club at the point that you take it over - even with that they don't look too far into the future and he's been there for 8 years.

What could have been worse for us? Why did we keep falling lower and lower under Evans then?

You may tell me it could be as bad as Sheffield Wed and problems with wages getting paid.

His lack of interest and demand of progress/success allowed the lazy, rotten culture to set in. Players weren't arsed, they were just happy to pick up the wages. Irrespective of how bad Hurst, Lambert and Cook were they had no chance to succeed with that mob. The player-power was a cancer of the club.

Dozzell admitted after joining QPR that Ipswich was a comfortable zone for him. It really was. For him, for that group of players.

Chansiri, Evans both utter disasters in their own way.

Change of ownership gave us an opportunity to resurrect the club. Now the same applies for Sheffield Wed. They will keep suffering if they don't find a new buyer.

Genuinely feel for the staff who are facing the prospect of not being paid but with mortgages, rent and other bills to pay.

People are quick to jump on the EFL when it comes to the 'fit and proper test' but all it can realistically do is sift out the real obvious chancers and charlatans. They cannot legislate for someone worth £500m+ deciding he doesn't want to fund it anymore or making terribly bad decisions. See also Mel Morris at Derby, on paper he'd tick every box - seriously wealthy, fan of the club etc.

Maybe they should bring in some kind of an escrow system between new owners and the EFL. Either way, there needs to be more ways that chancers can be sanctioned personally.

I think they already want to see proof of funds beyond the initial purchase but how many years funds could you expect someone to put into escrow? I think even our owners would have baulked at doing that.
