Still a Lino to me. Trips off the tongue easier when shouting at them. "Assistant Referee, that was a fking corner!!!" is a bit much to get out when you're eating a sausage roll.

Should you really be abusing the officials during a minute's silence?

True, can we apply that to other "man" titles or do we just end up speaking Bogan? Rudely awakened by the dusto's.

In English yes, but in many languages the 'o' ending would definitely be refering to a male.

When did football on 17:06 - Oct 28 with 1659 views | EdwardStone | Caretaker sounds a bit mop 'n' bucket, moving those tubular frame stacking chairs....the ones with the canvas seat.... and sprinkling sawdust in the coridoor when someone hasn't quite made it to the toilet in time Interim is a better description..... it means the owner will tolerate the new manager for a short while, but in the longer term he isn't really into 'im

Grubby, whiskery old blokes in a brown coat with a zinc bucket, manky mop and smelling of disinfectant and vomit. They’ll always be Caretaker managers to me. Lino is a Lino - fits perfectly when telling him/her to go to Specsavers. Transition? It’s a counter attack. Low block? Defending like hell. The press. Marking like hell. Profit and Sustainability rules - big clubs screwing the rest for all they can get. Simulation = diving, cheating, conning the ref, trying to get a fellow pro sent off. When did football on 21:38 - Oct 28 with 1406 views | Nthsuffolkblue | I think the difference is that a caretaker manager used to be appointed while the club started searching for and then appointing a new manager. An interim manager is someone in place while the finishing touches are put to the deal with the new manager who was identified and sounded out before the old manager was sacked. In other words, the difference between the two is about 2 weeks.

I would have said the other way around for some reason. The caretaker title always seemed to be used on someone who had absolutely no chance of getting the job and was there just to fill the role, where as I think now an interim seems to be the way for someone to almost audition themselves in some way to try and get the job long term. If you agree?

Extra time is still extra time. Injury time is time added on.

I was thinking about "set up" vs "assist" the other day. When I was a kid in the playground we'd always be shouting about who got the "set up", I bet kids now are yelling about assists and I'm not sure when it changed!
