Less than a year ago was apparently on the cusp of joining Lazio, yesterday an unused sub for struggling 'Wayne Rooney's' Plymouth.

Football is a short career, and sometimes these opportunities only come round once.

I thought he looked a good player when Argyle played down here a year ago. Maybe he just needs to move on.

Presumably not fit and not thought worth risking him at 3-0 down at half time.

Otherwise, it would say more about Rooney than Whittaker is my first thought.

He needs to just follow Schumacher around, as he’s never managed to do anything and nail down a first team place under any other manager.

He's started 12 out of 13 games.

Every minute at home and an average of 87 away before yesterday. Rooney was just saving him for the more winnable game on Tuesday.

Truly impaired.

Fair enough - I didn't bother than to dig deeper than yesterday's line up.

I think the general point still stands - stuck in a struggling team, very likely to go down, and had his move of a lifetime moment earlier this year.

Suspect he'll move within the next 12 months to a better team. Think he's good enough to play in a to champ team. Wouldn't even be against us signing him if we came down. Price will likely be better by then.

Ah, someone who can’t nail down a place except for the 12 out of 13 games this season .

He’s gone off the boil a bit since Schumacher left; he knew how to get the best out of him.

Correct

Mind you apparently statistically the worst Championship performance since Opta
Started collecting data

So probably not the worst game to be rested

Tough watch though.

What's the view on Rooney and where you are now, seems like he's settled a bit after a bad start but it looks like you might have a difficult season as well.

How's the Championship this season? Huge probability that we will return come August 2025. Absolutely vital we bounce back in the first season to carry on this club momentum. I don't fancy having to bag 96 points again to secure 2nd!

Presumably Whittaker would have played wide rather than as a number 10 though?

Do you think we signed Omari as a wide player and then thought about him more as a 10?

For me that's one thing that hasn't felt correct. He looks much more at home playing wide and getting at the full back. But then we would have had Burns and Ogbene on the bench.

I still think Szomidics needs to be more as a second striker as well. Not left attacker. His game isn't about getting past players really, it's about scoring goals.
