Think Arsenal were keen on Kieron at the time of Newcastle's bid. But Delap will have a plethora of clubs looking at him, given his age, profile etc. If we can keep him and he stays fit and carries on scoring for the rest of the season, which means we stay up, then I think we would all wish him well as he clearly will go to the very top.

I think they’re both inevitable aren’t they? If we stay up then there’s probably every chance that neither are with us next season because of how well they’ve done. The business model is going to be player trading so if we’re going to establish ourselves in the prem we’re going to see a lot of players coming in, doing well and then being sold on. The managers going to have to buy into that as well and that’s why McKenna is our greatest asset, because he can take a £20million player and turn them into a £40/50/60million player. We’ve just got to enjoy the ride.

If we stay up, get £50-60m for Delap then I don't see why McKenna wouldn't stay. If you look at clubs he would go to I can't see many clubs viable. Liverpool - Nope with Slot City - No with Pep staying Utd - Unless Amorin has a catastrophic run until the end of the season then no. Arsenal - No Villa - No Chelsea - No Spurs - Maybe, but Ange seems to pull the rabbit out of the hat when needed WH - Maybe, but if we stay up there is the question then are they a huge stepping stone Brighton - No Everton - Maybe, but that job is a managers graveyard Newcastle - Maybe, but if they get rid of Howe, you get the impression they would want an experienced marquee name (Ancellotti, Conte) Then you have the likes of Palace, Fulham, Wolves, Bournemouth, Brentford who would all be viewed as a sideway step with no real upside. Very much Blue Tinted specs there, but equally I'm trying to find a huge step up in club and it's slim pickings

David Ornstein's One To Watch - Liam Delap on 09:36 - Nov 29 with 3239 views | Bellevue_Blue | If we are ever going to progress we have to trade up and therefore the more hype around him the better. If we go down, we need a bidding war to ensure we get that 50M he's worth. If we stay up, then we can probably hang on for another year and sell him for more. Either way, that money will allow us to bounce back very quickly or hopefully do the same thing again!

Yep, I'd view Everton and West Ham as a sideways step also considering all factors. With our momentum and history with McKenna. So only really Newcastle & Tottenham.

And Leeds and Juventus. When he heard a bid had been accepted, Kieron thought it was Leeds before being told it was Newcastle.
David Ornstein's One To Watch - Liam Delap on 14:25 - Nov 29 with 2372 views | IPSWICHFANITFC | He won't go in January. I don't think any big club are desperately needing a striker and the transfer fee involved will be a hefty one. Does he go in the summer if we go down? 100%. Does he go in the summer if we stay up? 50/50. We might be lucky that there's likely to be two other big named strikers that could be available in the summer in Gyokeres and Isak that could attract bigger clubs over Delap, but he will be a name in the hat regardless.

I disagree that KM would leave if we stay up. Delap probably whether we stay up or not. Why I say KM would stay is where if we stayed up would he be better off and there won't be any big clubs needing a new manager as most have changed them fairly recently. Many of the rest aren't much bigger or are smaller clubs than Town and if they survive there's every chance of a 40,000 seater stadium and more funds to improve the team.

Agree to a point but the Spurs job is one that could open up, he may well be on their list and he’d almost certainly be interested Outside of that though tend to agree that he’d probably be well served staying here and pushing us on further than taking one of the other jobs that may be available

Our owners are not finished. If we can stay up then every year in the EPL becomes easier with the funding. Our owners are wanting to invest to reach and maintain top 4 and European football. I can't see KMk leaving for any other club until we have got there. I hope and believe we can be as successful as the Sir Bobby years. The Culture at the club is set up for that. At least expect KMk to stay for the opening of the new training facilities. Even when he does leave us I see our Culture remaining and standards improving.

Plus we are gearing towards a 40k crowd ...and even if mckenna left for another club..he would want to get rid of so many players with big egos and bring in his own type of player ,who will listen to him.and play in the mckenna style..that could take easily two to 3 years...and considering most big clubs need instant success...that will definitely make mckenna shy away from such clubs ...

If Spurs came in for him, with the club size, the stadium, budget and his history there, I’d expect him to go. Would be an incredible opportunity for him as well.

Yes, if we stay up, we can certainly dare to dream. Look where little old Brighton are now! Second in the table! (albeit having played an extra game, but still...!) I would never blame McKenna for moving to a bigger club, whether we stay up or not. But he might just be one of those rare characters that would be patient enough to realise that he is young, he has plenty of time, and that the grass is not always greener. I'd rather keep on being McKenna, and become an Ipswich legend to surpass Burley and maybe even rival those other two gods of our club, than turn into Potter and leap at the first big big club to come along and then languish for a few years, sinking into the quicksand of his treasure...

These are the teams I can see McKenna going to (from most to least) Man Utd - Obvious reasons Tottenham - Obvious reasons Aston Villa - Big club and big potential Newcastle - Big club and big potential Brighton - They keep picking good managers and they are 5+ years ahead of us Everton - wildcard, but depending on new ownership, with their new stadium they could have significant potential Chelsea - obviously massive club, but unstable environment West Ham - Big club and big potential Other teams I think are either so stable they aren't likely to be hiring (Liverpool, Arsenal) or are close enough for it to be a sideways step. If McKenna stays a year or two, then I think Brighton, West Ham and maybe Everton (especially if they aren't well run) drop of the list. However no matter what Ashton cooks up, even with an updated 40k ground, we will hit a financial ceiling well below the biggest clubs in the League.
