Ashley Young was on for Everton. His son Tyler Young on the Peterborough bench. Wasn't subbed on. No father Vs son story.

I agree. So often you hear win at all cost and what is best for the team etc etc and 99.9% of the time that is the correct mantra.

However I feel here is different. Football is about moments and making history as well as winning ,and bringing on the young lad would have achieved the aforementioned. 153 years is a long time and to have had that moment would have been unique and special that would have been a moment that could never have been taken away.

Very very poor.

If Everton had got the second goal earlier he might have come on. Ferguson would likely argue they still had a chance at 1-0 so he went with his best players.

Truly impaired.

They’d used all 5 subs when it was 1-0.

He’s an U21 player.

How dare a manager do what’s best for his team.

Yep.

Ferguson made that completely about him.

It's a competitive game against a team in terrible form so they had a chance at a big cup upset. This isn't a pixar movie it's the FA Cup. He did the right thing and played his strongest team and strongest subs. Typical media hype again.

If we were 1–0 down in a cup match I would rather bring on attacker than a defender , Pboro were still in the game.

It's not Christmas though, it's a football match.

He did exactly that:

"It was very difficult to leave Tyler on the bench but I've got to do what I think is best for the team," said Ferguson.

"As much as I wanted Tyler to get on, if the game had been 2-0 at that point I would've put him on but at 1-0, I had to get a forward on. I've got to try and get something out of the game and do what is best for my team."

He's 100% right.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

On the other hand what about the other young subs desperate to get on against Everton. Had he been put on just for the media attention how would they feel?
Also it would place him in a difficult situation in the dressing room had he got on ahead of someone thought to be clearly ahead of him in the pecking order.

I hope he gets his time but last night wasn’t to be.

Kind of funny all the clamor for it to happen, but the kid hadn't been in the last 14 matchday squads!
