That is superb news re McKenna 14:44 - Apr 11 with 3794 views | tractorboy1978 | He didn't have to answer like that which makes me think he's decided he is here regardless of what happens this summer. Bit between his teeth to take us back up. [Post edited 11 Apr 14:45]

That is superb news re McKenna on 14:55 - Apr 11 with 3112 views | portmanking | I think he knows full well he needs to verbally commit if we're to be at the front of the queue for signings once the last ball has been kicked this season. Will also add that's *very* good news regarding the likelihood of keeping Omari (had been told he was only likely to consider staying if KMac did).

That is superb news re McKenna on 15:31 - Apr 11 with 2846 views | SuffolkPunchFC | This is the keystone to our continued development, and getting re-established near the top of the pyramid. Rome wasn't built in a day, and this is the news we needed to hear. (Caveated by a misquote from Joseph Chamberlain ‘In football, there is no use in looking beyond the next fortnight.’) [Post edited 11 Apr 15:32]

I don't think we're going to struggle selling season tickets even if he hadn't said anything.

That is superb news re McKenna on 16:31 - Apr 11 with 2588 views | Mullet | I think it’s great. I’m not a fan of managers having a year or two at most - he’s obviously devalued a little bit perhaps, but I’m sure he will still get offers, potentially if we have a good start it could be another Brighton and palace scenario. The fact we will lose so many players this summer means him staying should be a massive positive. If we were getting in a new manager it could cause longer delays in settling the squad etc

That is superb news re McKenna on 16:34 - Apr 11 with 2547 views | Garv | I know it's fairy-tale stuff and doesn't generally happen anymore (unless it's City and Pep or Arsenal and Arteta etc) but imagine if he stayed for 5/6/7 years. He'd have legendary status, even more so than already.

That is superb news re McKenna on 16:43 - Apr 11 with 2474 views | dirtyboy | I've said all along that I think McKenna sees us very much as a project and whilst he craves success at the very highest level, he also seems keen to build something and the satisfaction that brings. Importantly, he doesn't strike me as overly materialistic (but will obviously want to secure his family's financial future) so sees the building of Ipswich from a League 1 club to a (hopefully) established or competitive Premier League team with fantastic training facilities as as much as an accomplishment as anything else short term.

Agree. I imagine the statues & stands named after SAR and SBR are probably pretty inspiring too.

I think a body of work like turning Ipswich from League 1 also-rans into an established PL club with elite training facilities over 5-7 years sells itself for his future job prospects. I know Kompany got the Bayern gig after Burnley, but Kompany strikes me as someone who's in a bigger hurry to get to the top (potentially to his detriment long term).

Kompany was an elite player. That seems to be massive currency every generation- despite how good they turn out as managers.

People seem to forget that Burnley was Kompany's second management gig, he had cut his teeth initially at Anderlecht for 2 years, starting to turn the club's fortunes around and taking them to a cup final.

Well if he like Adnams... get him over to St Peters Brewery near Bungay and he'll never leave!... especially if he likes a stout😉
