Funny thing about Best is he wasn’t even on loan. He was a free agent and we signed him as replacement for championship top goal scorer from the season before Daryl Murphy. Absolutely laughable. #EvansOut

That wasn't quite true, he was coming in as a deputy to Murphy but then Murphy was sold and no replacement was found.

Best had been on trial while Murphy was here and had been offered a contract before Newcastle came in for him.
