Presumably we thought that he was out of our price range. Once the bid has been accepted with Beskitas they have given us the value we need and we can join in. Had we started earlier it may have lead to a bidding war and the price would be inflated. This way we can get him at a price we like and Beskitas have done all the hard work for us. If you believe the stories, the transfer fee for Cajuste has dropped, or maybe the fee Town had committed to pay reflected the money available in the PL?
At a transfer fee of £5m or so, he'd be a good signing for us, but maybe his agent is trying to flush out some interest from PL clubs?
Cajuste himself might prefer a permanent deal & a 3 year contract, rather than being a roving mercenary. |  |
