Yeah I’ve had a couple of people saying that. Seems weird it’d be in blocks

Yep. Purely on a tickets sold basis, it was sold out but people might not have turned up

| Hundreds of empty seats last night in the away end? on 19:40 - Nov 26 with 2141 views | WubbleU | It might have looked full on tv but anyone there will tell you it wasn't, loads of empty spaces. Sure there are people moving to be with friends but everything suggests a few people buying tickets to hold their place in the queue for next year back in the Premier League I guess if you've been paying £100+ on away days, then £35 for a ticket and saving travel and beer money sort of feels like saving £70+ and you keep at front of queue. I'd love to know how many tickets actually scanned in last night but for whatever reason there was a good number less there than purchased. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

ITFC will have retained blocks for various stakeholders such as sponsors. The take-up from them is nothing like it was in the PL. if hat’s the case, shame that they couldn’t be released to others

There were a lot of empty seats in our row and there was a large block of about 30ish a couple of rows down that were also empty. Behind the goals section (where we only were) was about £24 I think, so you can understand why some might feel that buying a ticket and not going was worth it for the point., but it means people with less points who did want to go were prevented from getting a ticket.

Let's be honest, people have been doing this on Tuesday nights and epic away trips for years. It annoys me on one hand but on another I totally understand it as there is no chance you'll ever get caught and the club don't seem to do anything about it.

Even more savings in the case of Blackburn, with tickets at half price for those who went to the first game. But I won't be one of them. [Post edited 26 Nov 2025 21:09]

Millwall - apart from the away end the Den looks like playing football during COVID.

Perhaps more clubs moving to digital ticketing may help prevent it? I don't know how integrated the systems will be, but if it ends up that away tickets get put in your ITFC 'wallet' in the same way as home tickets will be, it might make it all but impossible to transfer tickets without either giving someone your login details, or lending them your device.

I believe there is an increasing use of digital tickets, especially in the Premier League. Indeed, our away game at Leicester last season had some of the tickets as digital, although the same wasn't true this season. This was what was said about them. "As part of the allocation from Leicester, part of block M1 will be a digital* ticket only block. If you purchase in block M1, the link to download your ticket will be sent via email to the owner of the ticket ahead of the fixture, rather than a physical paper ticket as per other away fixtures. Once you receive the link, the ticket can be downloaded to their Apple/Google Wallet ready for scanning on the day. Please ensure your phone has suitable charge to be able to scan on the day. If you choose to purchase a ticket in block M1, you will ONLY be able to purchase other tickets in block M1 due to the digital fulfilment. If you wish to purchase tickets in block M1 alongside any other block, you will need to purchase those in block M1 separately. *A digital ticket is a ticket that can only be downloaded once to your Apple/Google Wallet and often uses NFC technology. It is not a ticket that can be scanned off a document on your phone as per home fixtures at Portman Road. Digital tickets will be sent out the week of the match to the email registered to the owner of the game."

Sounds like it could well be a step closer to 'solving' the away ticket/point situation then, although the use of a link rather than an app would still probably allow for sharing so long as the ticket isn't downloaded.

It looked very empty on the clips I saw of last night's game which, given where they are in the league, is probably telling.

| Hundreds of empty seats last night in the away end? on 11:55 - Nov 27 with 942 views | SaleAway | I was down on the front row ( a return that I picked up late after it was officially sold out). My row was half empty and there were loads of seats on the front 10 rows that weren't filled. I assume a lot of that was people going up into the safe standing areas with mates, but still, I do think there were a lot of no shows. There were some people behind me who couldn't stand and had been keen to get the front row seats, only to find them all sold out, so they were somewhat surprised to see how many empty seats down there there were. | |

How is there no chance you'll get caught? Town know which tickets are sold. The away team knows which tickets have been scanned. All the information is there. Buying a ticket for a point and then not going (deliberately) is absolutely scummy and should be punished severely.

I agree that it should be that easy but, for whatever reason, the club has decided not to pick this particular piece of low-hanging fruit. It seems doubly perverse, when they've now stated their aim of going after ST-holders who don't use their tickets.

They’re only going after ST holders who don’t use the resale platform, which seems fair enough when there’s clearly lots of people who want to go, but you’re right that there’s no reason why they can’t do something similar for no shows at away games
