| This "double" record 17:59 - Apr 12 with 2039 views | swede | Much was made on Sky TV yesterday that this season is the first time we have "doubled" Norwich since 1993/94. That is a fact and since that date they have " doubled" us four times (94/95, 03/04, 10/11, 14/15). I thought it might be more. Indeed, if you go back a further ten years the scores are level in that we have "doubled" them four times (84/85, 92/93, 93/94, 25/26). What does that prove, not a lot really but that their superiority over us not exactly what their fans claim it to be. Thank you to the wonderful "Pride of Anglia" website for the information. | | | | |

That was 2014/15 We lost 1-0 at PR & 2-0 at CR. The Play-off games were 1-1 at PR & 1-3 at CR.

I only remember the playoff games for some reason. We used to play them like August/Feb didn’t we but now seems later.

They beat us twice. MMc's record in derby games, Play Offs and Cup games throughout his career was pathetic. Not just with us, only Play Off game he won was for Ireland against Iran before it all kicked off with Keane at the WC.

I can’t believe we don’t win one of those early home games over that era when both teams were still getting going, would have stopped stupid unbeaten record much earlier. At least that’s now well and truly confined to their program honors list. I remember Knudsen putting one in the bottom corner of the Churchman’s end maybe 2016’ish? All those seconds half’s seemed to fizzle out to a nothingness draw, similar to the playoff home game.

The tally across all Football League history: Ipswich doubles: 7 (1946-47, 1952-53, 1960-61, 1976-77, 1984-85, 1992-93, 2025-26) Norwich doubles: 7 (1948-49, 1950-51, 1951-52, 1994-95, 2003-04, 2010-11, 2014-15) So it’s actually remarkably even. Robsons only league double was in 76-77, the other 7 seasons under Robson while in the same division, the double was completed by neither side, so under Robson he never suffered an Anglia Derby league double loss. David Prutton, he’s good, didn’t feel like he was going on and on in a malicious way, was more joking about it.

| This "double" record on 22:09 - Apr 12 with 1246 views | patrickswell | We didn’t double them in 93/94. They beat us 1-0 at Carrow Road in August ‘93 through a Jeremy Goss goal, we then beat them 2-1 at Portman Road the week before Christmas ‘93 thanks to Gary Megson’s own goal. As there’s lots of facts and figures going around in this thread, I’ll add one. In the 5 derbies played between December ‘93 and April ‘96, we scored 6 goals but only 1 of those goals wasn’t either a penalty or an own goal. | | | |

We also doubled them in 1956/57: 3-1 at Portman Road, 2-1 at Carrow Road. Jaden Philogene became the 8th Town player to score home and away in the derby in the same season.

You’ve credited both sides with a double that never happened, and missed one for us that did. In 1950/51, the teams traded away wins (1-0 Norwich at PR, 3-1 Ipswich at CR). In 1952/53, the teams both won at home (2-1 Ipswich at PR, 1-0 Norwich at CR). In 1956/57, Ipswich won 3-1 at PR and 2-1 at CR. To clarify, when it comes to league doubles, we are now ahead of Norwich by a score of 7-6. Ipswich doubles: 1946/47, 1956/57, 1960/61, 1976/77, 1984/85, 1992/93, 2025/26. Norwich doubles: 1948/49, 1951/52, 1994/95, 2003/04, 2010/11, 2014/15. [Post edited 13 Apr 12:56]

Excellent stats, here's what I notice... We seem to have doubled them every decade (except 2000's+2010's) But they have a gap of over 42 years between them doubling us (51-52 to 94-95) Where's our t shirt range in Planet Blue?

Some further facts: In that 56-57 season they had to apply for re-election to the Football League after finishing bottom of the third Division (S) - that was for the third time since we joined them in the Football League. They'd also got through another re-election 8 years before we joined the League. There were also two post-war seasons when they finished second bottom of the league. After joining in 1920 it took them 13 years to go up to the old division 2 (Town did it in 10 years). It took them a further 34 seasons to make the top division. (Town did it in 8). I note that their Wiki entry uses the word "glory" for winning the League Cup in its second year by defeating the mighty Rochdale over two legs when entry was not mandatory and Arsenal, Sheffield Wednesday, Tottenham Hotspur, West Bromwich Albion and Wolves did not enter - in that season (1961-62) Town were busy winning something else that I seem to recall is mentioned in some song or other!
